When words and quotes hit the right person at the right time, there's a connection that goes beyond just their intellectual understanding. I think we both believe that words have the power to link your emotions, intellect and body," says MoreThanOKla co-founder Kylie Kolb. "I think we designed this program to create more of these moments in every day life," adds Oliver Drakeford, her founding part
ner. Spreading love, joy, inspiration and motivation, in a different and purposeful way, is indeed part of the business plan. "Creating a digital meme is just one part of the project, but we have designed ways to enhance and deepen the essence of what we do." "It really reflects our connection and personal friendship," prides Kolb. "We met the first day of grad school in our Clinical Psychology program, and our kinship continues to deepen incredibly. "It's like our relationship runs parallel to the experience we are hoping to create in our work." Indeed there is a combustion of two lives, Kolb moved to Los Angeles in 2012 from New York, while Drakeford, moved from the United Kingdom - they bring a unique perspective from two different worlds. Taking classes together every quarter until graduation in 2016, the pair reflected on and connected over their personal journeys of self-discovery, empathy, and vulnerability, which they aim to bring to their business. "As psychotherapists, we just want to help people love abundantly," says Kolb, after summarizing the project. "Creating something with the intention to spread self-awareness and insight, is the name of the game," adds Drakeford. "Love for your self, and others comes from both -and I think we are both frustrated with the limitations of one-on-one therapy." "Maybe this is group therapy for the world!" concludes Kylie with a smile. MoreThanOKla is indeed a touch of therapy for the online world, bringing uplifting quotes and thought-provoking questions on Instagram and Facebook. Plans to introduce workshops and in-person groups in Los Angeles are being developed. For more information on MoreThanOKla, please contact 262 509 0210 or MyTherapistOliver@gmail.com.
