Following an internship at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Emer completed a two-year dermatopharmacology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where he conducted multiple clinical trials on investigational treatments in cosmetic, laser and surgical dermatology; his work prompted FDA approval for several medications and devices treating a range of skin conditions.

Throughout his residency, Dr. Emer focused his cosmetic interests on liposuction, contouring, sculpting, fat harvesting, and fat transfers, learning from world-renowned authorities in the fields of dermatology and plastic surgery. He also began an HIV treatment clinic where fat transfer, fillers, and other cosmetic and plastic surgical procedures were used to enhance patients’ facial features and address body disproportions.

Dr. Emer’s involvement in education, teaching, and research has facilitated a host of publications and clinical trials. A frequent lecturer and consultant for pharmaceutical and medical device companies, Dr. Emer has written extensively on complications of aesthetic procedures, fractional laser technologies, techniques and guidelines for facial contouring, and sports-related dermatological conditions. He is featured in Allure magazine as the sole male beauty product authority and has made countless television appearances, sharing his expertise in skin care, laser treatments, and surgical and nonsurgical body contouring techniques.
