Who We Are:
Family Surgical Suite is a fully-equipped and certified surgical center with a focus on pediatric dentistry. Most of our patients are five or under, are compromised with severe medical problems, or have behavioral or developmental difficulties which qualifies them for general anesthesia. Nurses in this facility care for the patient throughout all phases including Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2.
Essential Job Duties:
Assesses and documents vital signs, and physical assessment: Evaluation and documenting using the Modified Aldrete Scoring System (MAS)
Anticipates and recognizes changes in the patients status and need for nursing care. Modifies the individual plan of care in collaboration with the health care team
Cooperates and communicates effectively with other team members in order to accomplish the workload
Requires critical thinking, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions basked on multiple variables and desired outcomes
Maintain patient’s airway
Place IVs
Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique
Assist anesthesiologist
Administers medications
Assure that the patient is prepared for discharge by providing the necessary education to the patient and his/her responsible caregiver
Maintains a clean environment
Integrates legal and ethical standards into practice: complies with regulatory standards, practices within the scope of licensure, provides accurate & timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care delivery.
Shift Details:
Part Time/ PRN
Flexible with schedules
Open Monday-Friday
Start time 6:30 am
End Time - varies depending on when dental cases are finished for that day
No nights, call, or holidays
Requirements:
Current RN Certification
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
Specific certifications: PALS and ACLS
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Basic Computer Skills
Preferred Experience:
Pediatric experience
PACU experience
Surgical experience
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
May be expected to sit and/or stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
