“You can’t change what you don’t feel.”
Stress doesn’t usually show up all at once.
It sneaks in.
A little extra tension here.
A little holding there.
Until one day the body feels tight… but also weirdly used to it in a comfortably uncomfortable way 😜

The body keeps pushing through because that’s what bodies do for us!🎉

Receiving a massage is just a moment to check in.
No self judgment or incrimination.
No analyzing.
Just noticing what’s been quietly working so hard! 💪

And them there’s that moment.I usually get every massage I receive
“Oh wow… I didn’t realize I was holding that.”
I Breath to help things move and tell myself that “it’s okay to stand down for a bit.”

And that feeling , that small wave of relief, is surprisingly joyful.
Like coming home to my body.

So I am doing Dry January. 🙌

No booze. Feeling clear. Liver's throwing a party.

I am freshly all happy in "get healthy" mode!

Cool!!! And….then there’s ANOTHER thing I am doimg. Looking at what is sneaking into my body while I am shoppin’:

SALT! Aka Sodium. The gold standard of food preservation and a local native treasure along the Colorado river.

Here’s some shockers I asked my pal ai about salt and food:

🍞 Bread & rolls - up to 230 mg per piece

🍕 Pizza - up to 760 mg per slice (say cheese!)

🥪 Cold cuts - 578 mg in just 2 slices of meat (common brands at least)

🍗 Chicken nuggets - nearly 600 mg in 3 oz (is that only 3 nuggets?)

🥫 Canned soup - up to 940 mg per cup

🥪 A loaded sandwich….can easily blow past 1,500 mg

Daily limit? 2,300 mg.

I have hit that by lunch more than once…Without even trying.

So maybe like you I am “Ditching the drink” for dry January…..AND I am also starting to read my labels.

I am that dork taking forever to pick a product at the store while folks whiz by 😂

January me is gonna be a whole new human by February. 💪.

Wish me luck cuz salt is WAY harder than the drink. Salt literally it’s everywhere including the rim of a Margarita!!!

Why ⁉️ does my tension come back after massage? This is one of the most common questions I hear from clients - and the answer is more fascinating than you might think.

For decades, we thought of muscles, fascia, and connective tissue as separate sliding layers - like sheets stacked on top of each other.

But groundbreaking research by Dr. Jean-Claude Guimberteau revealed something completely different.😀

Under microscopic observation, our connective tissue is actually a living, three-dimensional network - what he calls a "multimicrovacuolar collagenic absorbing system."

Think of it less like sliding layers and more like a dynamic web of tiny interconnected chambers ===== filled with fluid =====, all held together by collagen fibers arranged in fractal patterns.
So why does tension return?

Because massage addresses the muscular and superficial fascial layers beautifully - but some restrictions live deeper in this hydraulic system, in areas manual therapy simply can't reach. It's not that the massage didn't work - it's that your body is a complex, interconnected system where tension can be stored at multiple levels.

This is why I often recommend complementary approaches alongside regular bodywork.

For example, far infrared (FIR) sauna therapy works on the fascial system in ways massage cannot - the deep penetrating heat affects the hydraulic pressures and fluid dynamics within this connective tissue matrix, helping to release restrictions that manual therapy alone can't access.

Your body isn't just a collection of parts. It's an intricate, living network that deserves comprehensive care.

When your hip flexors work in harmony, walking up stairs feels effortless. Your iliacus and psoas major lift your thigh ...

When your hip flexors work in harmony, walking up stairs feels effortless. Your iliacus and psoas major lift your thigh forward while your piriformis and deep external rotators stabilize your hip socket. This is balance.

But when one side of this relationship breaks down, simple movements become complicated. A tight psoas pulls your lumbar spine into excessive arch. A weak iliacus can't initiate the first degrees of hip flexion, so you compensate by hiking your hip up with your quadratus lumborum instead. You can't run without your lower back screaming. You can't sit comfortably for more than twenty minutes.

The fascia connecting these muscles is like a spider's web spanning from your thoracic spine down to your inner thigh. When functioning properly, this fascial web distributes force evenly - your hip flexors contract, the fascia transmits that force smoothly, and your leg lifts. But imagine a spider web where one section becomes sticky and adhered.

That sticky spot can't stretch anymore, so when the spider pulls on one side of the web, the opposing side has to generate more force just to create the same movement. The web doesn't break, but it's inefficient. In your body, when fascia adheres around your psoas, your iliacus has to work overtime. The opposing force - in this case, your glutes and hamstrings - has to pull harder to extend your hip because they're fighting against tissue that won't yield.

Animas Mobile Massage understands that your hip flexors don't exist in isolation - they're part of an interconnected fascial system that responds to informed touch and intuitive awareness, helping restore the natural glide between muscle layers and returning your hips to the effortless movement they were designed for.

10 Reasons I Love Giving Mobile "Medically-Inspired" Massage..

1. I get to show up where you are at home, in the office, or at ranch. No receptionist, no waiting rooms, just your creative space.

2. I don’t do cookie cutter. Every session is built around what "your" body actually needs and I swear I can never to the same massage twice. My hands find stuff.

3. I love blending my clinical skills with a more grounded, human approach. Science + soul = my jam.

4. Helping folks move better or finally slow down and be quietly alone...never gets old!

5. You don’t have to drive after a massage which is a HUGE win for anyone too busy, or just wiped out and don't like car rides after a massage.

6. I get to meet people where they’re at in the moment of time. Physically and emotionally. That part really matters and how I describe my work.

7. It’s not just about muscles. I think bigger picture like your nerves, fascia restrictions, assessing posture, hormonal stress.

8. I like getting to know my people. Working mobile means I get quiet time on the road to relax and jam out to music too!

9. I get to help prevent bigger issues down the road, not just chase symptoms.

10. Honestly? It just feels good to help people feel good - probably why I've been at it for 25 years and will until it's not possible.
