This weekend in Las Vegas, Dr. Angelica Kokkalis of The Han Institute had the privilege of treating members of the La Jolla Volleyball team from San Diego, CA. High school athletes push their bodies to the limit—jumping, diving, and training hard to compete at their best. Unfortunately, this also puts them at high risk for overuse injuries, muscular imbalances, and strain.
Early treatment of athletic injuries is essential. Ignoring pain or “playing through it” can lead to long-term damage that affects both athletic performance and overall well-being. That’s why integrated care makes all the difference.
Dr. Kokkalis combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern understanding of neuromuscular health—offering therapies like cupping, guasha (neuromuscular reeducation), acupuncture, and electrostimulation. These time-tested practices complement conventional care, promoting blood flow, reducing inflammation, and accelerating recovery.
As this trip shows, taking care of young athletes is not just about game-day performance—it’s about building strong, healthy bodies for the long run.
