There is one week left in April, which is Autism Acceptance Month and Occupational Therapy Month, so we thought it could be fun to highlight some of the ways our OT team supports the Autism community and every child/family we work with đ¤
You will notice on these slides that OTs do not aim to âfix,â remediate, or change the clients we work with, but instead focus on promoting skill development, identifying support tools and strategies, educating caregivers and the community, and advocating for the needs of our clients. That is because one of the most important outcomes of OT is Occupational Justice, defined in our practice framework as âaccess to and participation in the full range of meaningful and enriching occupations afforded to others, including opportunities for social inclusion and resources.â
Letâs continue to build towards a more accepting and inclusive world for all neurotypes!
