In the Netherlands, a remarkable fusion of environmental technology and design is turning air pollution into something beautiful. Giant outdoor air purifiers, placed in urban areas, suck in polluted air and filter out fine particles such as PM2.5 and PM10 — some of the most harmful pollutants to human health. Once captured, these microscopic particles are compressed under high pressure into small, dark gemstones.
These unique stones are then set into rings, cufflinks, and other pieces of jewelry, creating wearable reminders of the importance of clean air. Each gemstone represents thousands of cubic meters of purified air, making the jewelry not only a fashion statement but also a symbol of environmental action.

The project serves a dual purpose: improving urban air quality while raising awareness about the invisible dangers of pollution. By turning waste into something valuable, it challenges perceptions of what pollution is and how it can be addressed. The Netherlands’ air-purifier gemstones prove that innovation can transform environmental problems into creative, tangible solutions — and even spark conversations about sustainability in unexpected ways.

💚In a noisy busy world, it is easy to get a bit lost and overwhelmed – lost in your thoughts or emotions or caught up in a big decision or situation. In these moments we need to find a way back to the present moment – and the process of grounding is a simple yet very powerful way to bring ourselves back to the present and centre ourself back in the reality of your physical body.

💚Reiki Practitioners and other energy workers use grounding techniques to end an energy session, as leaving ourselves plugged into higher spiritual energy vibrations can leave us open and more sensitive to picking up on the negative emotions and energies around us.

💚Grounding exercises bring the focus back to the present but also focus on literally reconnecting ourselves with the ground or Earth – to the floor beneath our feet – our connection to the stabilising energies of Mother Earth. This process of Earthing involves direct skin contact with the surface of the earth, which is brimming with natural energy and free electrons.
