Brave Souls Collective is working with the community to build connections and teach all types of providers how they may learn to walk alongside and identify this underserved population.

This is an excellent professional education course taught by survivors & family members of human trafficking.

Need training or education at your organization? Contact Mary or Marisa through the link above to book and inquire about rates.

Hello, Brave Souls KIDDOS! πŸ’œ This post is for you! (And grown ups can do it too!) Today's fun activity idea is for tomorrow cause clearly all of you mini humans should be in bed already, your kid-size brains need at least 10 hours of sleep (just FYI). Tomorrow I want you to create a gratitude list! Put together a list of all the things, people, memories, foods, places, toys, books, movies, and so on that you are thankful for (if you can't write, have your grown up help you! They should be reading this to you anyway if you can't write!) Once you have your list, use your creativity to show alllll that you are grateful for! Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
πŸ’œ Make a collage using your favorite pictures and/or magazine pictures and glue them onto recycled cardboard or construction paper!
πŸ’œ Draw a picture(s) of what you are grateful for! You can do it on construction paper with markers, crayons or paint, or even go outside and draw with sidewalk chalk!
πŸ’œ Write a poem or a song!
πŸ’œ Draw a sun and write what you're grateful for on each ray of sunshine!
πŸ’œ Write the word "gratitude" vertically (up and down, instead of across):
G
R
A
T
I
T
U
D
E
and choose ideas from your gratitude list that start with those letters! Write them in fun, bright colors!

When you're all done, take a picture of your creative gratitude list and post it in the comments below so we can share our gratitude and creativity with one another! When you're feeling sad, missing your friends and family, or feeling bored you can look at your gratitude art and be reminded of all the lovely, wonderful things in your life πŸ’œ I will post mine below as soon as it is completed! Can't wait to see yours πŸ’œ

XOXO,
Marisa

Hello Brave Souls! Long time no see! (A little quarantine humor). Just wanted to reach out and remind y'all that you are loved, I see you even though I can't SEE you face to face (quarantine humor again...too soon?), and you are not alone despite the distance Covid-19 has created πŸ’œ

I am working from home during this time, still accepting new clients, and am now able to offer intake sessions for new clients via Zoom! Please reach out if you need extra support during this chaotic, uncertain time. And if you're looking for some encouragement? Check back here over the next few days as I begin sharing resources, ideas, book suggestions, and even activities you can do with your families. πŸ’œ

For today I'll leave y'all with photos of these 2 cuties making the greatest chalk art and writing words of encouragement, "love yore self" πŸ’œ Kids are SO resilient and it's incredible watching them grow and adapt to the new normal. I think us grown ups are just as capable as these brave little humans, we just need a little reminder that it's possible πŸ’œ

XOXO,

Marisa

Hi Brave Souls, it's been a hot minute since I've posted in here! A lot has been happening the past 6 weeks since I last posted so y'all are due for an update:
❄ November 11th one of my dearest, most precious friends suddenly passed away. She had been diagnosed with acute myleoid Leukemia just 3 days prior to her passing and was 14 weeks pregnant with twins. Her loss was devastating for those who knew and loved her including myself. Over the past 4 1/2 weeks I have taken a step back from growing my practice in order to spend much needed time grieving and processing. It's been challenging to hold space for my clients as I grieve and I wish I could say I've overcome that challenge. However, I can truthfully say that I continue looking forward to seeing my clients and am open to new clients as I get back into my regular routine. πŸ’œπŸ’š
❄ I have not begun the 3 groups I was planning on launching this past Oct./Nov. My hope is to launch those groups in January instead as December is crazy busy for so many!
❄ I have begun working at a second location with a nonprofit in which I'm working with clients who have experienced s*x trafficking! This is a dream come true as I'm particularly passionate about working with this population. As I get back into my routine at Brave Souls I am also adjusting to a new routine at the nonprofit I'm working at.
❄ Lastly, I've added a beautiful new plant to my office, pictured above. It adds life, beauty, color, and growth to my office space. It is a plant that honors my dear friend who passed away Nov. 11th. πŸ’š She was full of life and beauty, she helped me grow, and she was colorful. I hope this plant can be a precious reminder of her treasured life; and a reminder to keep loving and growing despite the things that have hurt us and the darkness that creeps in when we're suffering. πŸ’œπŸ’š

Sorry for the crazy long update, just wanted to catch everyone up on things here at Brave Souls. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful holiday season and soaking up precious time with your loved ones. β€πŸ’š

PTSD can cause decision-making paralysis like nothing else. Even the good days can feel almost impossible to get through, much less accomplish anything. Give yourself grace. ~Stephanie
