Jerry is a big DILL at Tanner Spring! He's worn multiple hats here at Tanner but is most known for being our Med Tech. Jerry is loved by his team, family and most importantly, our residents. We appreciate everything Jerry does for Tanner Spring and hope he knows, he is a BIG DILL!

Every morning our residents in assisted living and memory care participate in group exercise after morning meeting. It's a part of our GeriActive activity program. It offers a variety of different types of senior exercises like chair Zumba, which are our residents in assisted living's favorite.

Keeping physical is important as we age. It strengthens muscles and bones, which reduces the risks of falls. It improves cardiovascular health, reducing inflammation and lowering blood pressure. It enhances mental health, which reduces depression. Encourages a social connection, which makes exercising more fun when it's done with your friends.

Superbowl is right around the corner and the guys in our Men's Club are helping out with an important job. Gordon even took the task seriously, by wearing his team colors.They are testing out chips and dips to vote on what we should have at our Superbowl Party.

We had tortilla chips, potato and ruffles mixed with queso, salsa, clam dip, French onion and bacon horseradish dip! The choice will be revealed at our party, February 8th.

As part of our Montessori activity program, we want our residents to play a part in their community. With our residents playing a part in planning our events, making decorations, and even taste testing their food, it's creating a community they love and can enjoy. The next time you're at a Tanner Spring event, know our residents participated in it.

The plastic is down in the dining area! Our residents couldn't be any more excited. It came down in time for Friday's happy hour. The remodel in the dining area isn't fully complete, but the major part of it is. Come check it out the next time you're visiting.

This month's activity theme is all about Italy, so Cooking Club is cooking up Italian butter cookies. Yum!

Our cooking club is joined by both assisted living and memory care residents in our activity parlor. Activities like these are important to our residents because they are more than making tasty treats. Our cooking club is part of our Montessori based activity program that keeps our residents independent by using fine motor skills, dexterity, boosting memory, boosts confidence, reduces loneliness and most importantly, it gives them a sense of purpose. Plus we are always reminiscing about cooking in our own kitchens and sharing tips and tricks.

Last night we welcomed a Mother Daughter group from Willamette Christian Church as they sang Christmas carols for our first Tanner Spring tree lighting in our newly remodeled front entrance. Thank you Mitch at Signature Hospice for making an ornament for our Christmas tree in AL and MC. We also had a hot cocoa bar and a table for kids to write and send letters to Santa. This month's GeriActive theme is all about giving back. We had a special guest, Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon come out to visit our residents. We loved getting all the snuggles. We hope to have you all back.

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon is an organization that helps find loving homes for golden retrievers from all over the world. Some of these dogs today had been rescued from China and Korea. You can find more about their non-profit and make a donation at www.goldenbondrescue.com
