Very true.

Someone once said when you love someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they are diagnosed, when they go through different stages, when they go into care and when they die. ๐Ÿ˜ข This is called โ€œAmbiguous Lossโ€. โ€˜Rapidly shrinking brainโ€™ is how doctors described it. I wouldn't wish Dementia on anyone. As the persons brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They can eventually become bedridden, unable to move and unable to eat or drink.
There will be people who will scroll by this message because dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Dementia.

To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would appreciate it if my friends could put this on your page for today.

"Purchased two -- one for my mother in a nursing home, and one for a dear friend. These are such a clever idea. My mother loved hers and had no problem accepting it around her neck; I followed another buyer's suggestion about encouraging mother to "wear her pearls". Now the nursing home can make no objection to a "lack of dignity" with wearing a bib! The other one I gave to another classy lady who has all her wits about her but suffers from arthritis and macular degeneration which causes her embarrassing food spillage."

ABSOLUTELY NOT...then listen to the story even if you know what you're hearing isn't true. It's reality to them. A nurse at the hospital once told me "don't play into their fantasy ". Are you serious right now. I COMPLETELY IGNORED THAT BS. I've cared for ALZ and Dementia residents and you LIVE IN THEIR REALITY NOT YOUR REALITY.

Should you correct someone with Alzheimerโ€™s when they say something that's wrong? The short answer is NO. Find out why agreeing is better for them AND you.
