šŸ’š Today marks one year since Mike’s life-saving kidney transplant.

It’s hard to put into words the gratitude and emotion that this day brings. One year ago, Mike was given the most precious gift — the gift of life. Since that day, we’ve watched him grow stronger, laugh harder, and truly live again.

To the incredible donors and their families — there are no words big enough to express the depth of our thanks. Your generosity changed everything.

Mike’s journey has been a reminder to never take a single day for granted. Here’s to continued health, hope, and the beauty of second chances. šŸ’š

The Gift of Life: The Importance of Live Kidney Donation

Every day, thousands of people—myself included—wait for a second chance at life through a kidney transplant. While deceased donor transplants save lives, the need far outweighs the available organs. That’s why living kidney donation is so critical.

A living donor kidney offers better outcomes, shorter wait times, and a renewed chance at a full, healthy life for recipients. Unlike many other organ donations, a person can live a normal, healthy life with just one kidney—while giving someone else the opportunity to live without dialysis, fatigue, or the uncertainty of waiting.

If you’ve ever considered organ donation, I encourage you to learn more about the process. Even if you can’t donate yourself, spreading awareness and sharing information can save lives.

After a transplant, a kidney biopsy is a common and routine procedure performed to monitor the health of my new kidney. It helps my doctors detect any signs of rejection, infection, or other issues that could affect kidney function, even before symptoms appear.

If issues like rejection or medication toxicity are detected, a biopsy provides critical information to adjust treatment plans to assure long-term transplant success.

Well Great News! šŸŽ‰

I just got the results from my kidney biopsy, and everything came back NORMAL! šŸ™Œ After everything I’ve been through, this is such a huge relief. Waiting for the results had me anxious, but now I can finally breathe easy knowing my kidneys are holding steady. My next biopsy will be in one year.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but moments like these remind me to celebrate every victory—big or small. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me along the way! šŸ’™

Onward and upward! šŸš€āœØ

Three Months Post-Kidney Transplant: A Journey of Gratitude and Growth

It’s hard to believe that three months have passed since my kidney transplant. The journey has been anything but easy, yet every challenge has been a step toward reclaiming my health and my future.

Physically, I’m feeling stronger each day. The fatigue that once weighed me down is gradually lifting, and my energy is returning in ways I hadn’t imagined possible. Lab work, medications, and doctor visits are still a big part of my routine, but they serve as constant reminders of how far I’ve come and how important it is to stay vigilant in my recovery.

Emotionally, this experience has been transformative. The gratitude I feel—for my donor, my medical team, my support system, and this second chance at life—is overwhelming. There’s a deeper appreciation for the little things: morning walks, time with loved ones, even just feeling normal again. Of course, there are moments of anxiety—wondering if every little symptom means something more, hoping my body continues to accept this gift—but I remind myself to take it one day at a time.

Three months in, I’m learning to balance healing with moving forward. I’m slowly returning to the activities I love, setting new goals, and embracing the possibilities that come with a healthier future. The road ahead is still long, but I’m walking it with hope, strength, and an incredible amount of gratitude.

To those who have been with me through this journey—thank you. Your support has been everything. And to anyone waiting for their own second chance, hold on. The road isn’t easy, but it’s worth every step.
