Let’s talk prenatal massages and getting ready for labor 😍
I have been licensed and insured since 2014, and received pre & post natal massage training as well as continuing education courses over the years. Massages during third trimester and to induce labor are one of my favorite things to work!
Massages have been known to be able to kick start labor, there are certain pressure points that we can trigger. As well as working those points, I do extensive low back, hip, glute, and pelvis work to be able to help the tension in the abdomen & loosen various ligaments to be able to allow baby to descend into the birthing canal. It is common during the massage to start feeling contractions or baby being extremely active, that means we are annoying baby enough to come on and we are going to continue working! During your massage, because so much weight is on the pelvis & it’s shifting, it is very likely this will be tender while I work. I always keep communication high during these sessions to make sure that we are both doing things at your pace.
Now that your massage is over doesn’t mean, we are done. It is SO VERY important to hydrate to be able to get you ready for labor and to also prevent your body from tightening back up after all the work we did. Usually leaving your massage you will notice that the baby has dropped dramatically. Going on walks is going to be the highest priority. Whether it is around the track at the wellness center, and doing occasional curb walks on the side ledge at the track. Or if the weather isn’t permitting, going upstairs to the treadmills, OR walking the medical mall across the street. But walking & being active is going to be a MAJOR key in your progress after session. I will also send you different stretches you can do at home to open your pelvis to allow baby to descend.
Eating a good meal afterwards is so important to keep the energy going to last through labor. And again, hydration.
Now, when can you start getting these massage? First, getting the clearance from OB to start labor naturally. As long as you aren’t high risk or having complications then this usually is around 38 weeks. I have found that women who are 38 weeks, 2 cm & 60%+ effaced have a lot better outcomes to have labor active within the next 24 hours or less. I have found women that are over 40 weeks, it is more difficult but that doesn’t mean to be discouraged but I will do all the tricks I have to help!
If you are wanting to do labor more naturally I encourage you to reach out to me for scheduling. You may look online to see I have zero availability for many weeks, and that’s so discouraging. DO NOT LET IT BE. If you message me & tell me you are wanting to kick start labor I will try everything to get you in asap even if I’m fully booked.
I cannot wait to work on any new mommas expecting your little one soon! If you have any questions feel free to message on my business page, personal page or call/text me 417.655.0823
P.s. once you I see you as a client, I’m fully invested. I need to know all the details & see that sweet baby face once you are ready to share! 😍
