West Newton Center for Active Adults aka West Newton Senior Center The West Newton Center for Active Adults is more than a Senior Center. We are a community center for the active aging community. Lunch is served daily at noon.

Our target audience are people ages 50 plus, and those with disabilities. The center is open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM and is supported by Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging, The Nutrition Group, and community volunteers. Membership to the center is free. The Center offers the aging community a safe place to congregate regardless of age, disability, veteran status, race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, faith, creed, education, income, or other social construct. Activities offered throughout the year include: Bible Study, Billiards, Craft Room, Evidence Based Exercise Programs, Lending Library, Live Music (including Dine and Dance, Lunch and a Show, Birthday Parties, Cash Bashes, and more), Lunch, Nutrition Information, Playing Cards, Ping Pong, Piano, Puzzles, Scrabble, Socialization, Trivia, Wii Sports, and more! The cost of lunch is a $3.97 charge for those 59 years or below, or a $2.00 donation for those 60 years and above. Reservations for lunch, and all live entertainment events, must be made a week in advance (by Wednesday of the week prior to the event date).

Fun time at the senior center today, with our open house. We had plenty of vendors in the morning, basket raffle in the afternoon, musical entertainment for hours and so much food our bellies were stuffed. All sorts of breakfast goodies, and fruit and then a delicious lunch topped off with several types of sandwiches and cheeses and snacks in the afternoon. It was a great day at the center. Thanks to all who attended.

We are changing the ‘two-fer’ candle Class to the ‘Second Thursday craft class’ which will be October 9 at 12:30 PM.

This Thursday, September 25, at 12:30, we will be painting cute plaster Christmas ornaments and it’s a free class. There is a huge variety that you can choose from.!!

Join Alice this Thursday, Sept 25th at 12:30 at the Center, for a ‘two-fer’ candle class!! We will have supplies to make an interchangeable base for a pretty candle holder. One is for fall and one for Christmas, simply by changing the leaves to ornaments. This will be a fun class and you can make the base anyway your little heart desires.😉 only $2 donation. Come join the fun. Sign up in advance, to guarantee that you will have a candle. We only have 14 of them and if you sign up, your candle will be waiting for you. Join Alice on Monday evening, Oct 20th, at 5:30, for coffee and Canvas Class at the West Newton Senior Center. As you know, You do NOT have to be a senior to enjoy this class!!. Today was Ducky Day at the center!! We had a celebration all day that included games, duck hunt, duck cookies, prizes for duck attire, and so much more
 It was a delightful day of fun and laughter and prizes. The winning numbers on the duck race was #196 first place $200, #163 2nd place $100 and #140 third place $50
