Strong Roots Counseling opened in March 2015 and we are pleased to announce that we are celebrating our ten year anniversary.

So much has changed since we opened in 2015: we now have eleven providers, two affiliated medication providers, an affiliated acupuncturist who specializes in a range of specialties, including women’s hormonal health, and a much busier office manager! We offer in-person and telehealth services in three languages in addition to English: Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Providers deliver a range of treatment approaches, including: CBT, ERP, EMDR, EFT, and a range of relationship models. Our long-time tester, Dr. Carmela DeCandia, has expanded her testing practice up to age 35. We had our first class of perinatal fellows. And, we have trained fourteen classes of providers in the use of CBT for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. We are thrilled to share that we currently have openings for individual adult clients for a range of diagnoses, both for in-person and telehealth, and we have significantly expanded the insurance offerings from when we opened ten years ago. Did you feel unsupported during childbirth? Did you feel unheard or felt a loss of control? Have you been grieving your birth experience? You deserve support. BIPOC birthers can also experience trauma related to racism, discrimination, oppression, and specific cultural views and beliefs.

This group is the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM EST/4:30 PM PST and a place to discuss these experiences with other BIPOC birthing people and facilitators. You can be at any point post-delivery, from 1-week to many years. This group is specifically focused on birth trauma and connecting with others.
