Maggie's Love Boxes

Maggie's Love Boxes Rallying around and supporting families who have a family member fighting medical 'monsters.' Love Works. Maggie's Ministry Team

Maggie's Ministry was launched in 2008 after four year old, Maggie Lynn Achuff passed away from Neuroblastoma, an awful childhood cancer monster. Maggie's courageous fight inspired Hope Community Church to rally around this family and help them be their support in whatever ways they needed. This taught us that fighting is lonely and no one should have to fight their monster alone. Maggie's Ministry was created to be the support of other families who have a family member who is fighting a medical "monster" and enduring medical hardship. We stand by families and look to help them in anyway that they need whether that be childcare so that parents can be at the hospital with their other sick child, helping out with household needs, visiting and talking with families, being dedicated prayer warriors, and assembling and delivering gift baskets to hopefully bring some simple joys. Two/Three times a year Maggie's Ministry holds events where people can donate items, gift cards, or financially give to these families in need. During these events volunteers assemble many baskets where they then are delivered to families who need them from our community, and families down at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia who have traveled away from their community, or have no community to rally around them. We believe that we can help support these families and demonstrate the love of Jesus by loving them and spreading joy: one person, one family, and one community at a time. We're excited to see how God continues to use this ministry! For more information or questions:

We received the donation in these pictures from a lovely family who attended our last Love Box packing. The young gentleman pictured really enjoyed tying the blankets we provide to parents with babes in Children’s Hospital at King of Prussia. They purchased fleece and tied three blankets !! In addition, they donated books to be included in the Love boxes. We want to express our deepest gratitude for their generous donation. This kindness has brought more than just stories to the young patients and comfort to the parents; they’ve help show the children and parents that they are cared for and supported by a community that believes in their strength and wants to help them smile. It’s so cool to see kids helping kids!!

On Tuesday the 21st we made our final delivery to Nemours Children's hospital in Wilmington Delaware. Delivering to them 20 Love boxes for the children in their facility. We typically take the next 3 months off because they get seasonal donations and ask their regular donors to hold off during this time. However new this year both Hospitals have agreed to receive a January delivery. We are tentatively looking at Martin Luther King Jr. day for our January packing.

No tricks all treats. That's what we delivered on Friday to the Children's Hospital in King of Prussia. Sixteen Love boxes and 2 parent/caregiver bags were given for the children currently battling medical monsters. Our goal is to let them know they are not battling alone. Due to the overflow of donations received at the hospital in November and December, our next delivery to CHOP King of Prussia will be in January 2025. Stay tuned for our packing plans in January.

Celebrating George Searfoss Legacy Day by serving at Maggie's Love Boxes. Our Volunteers packed tons of fun into the Maggie's boxes, made cards to help the children receiving the boxes smile and tied blankets for the parent/care giver bags. Twelve hearts full of love and hands willing to help others know they are not battling their medical monsters alone. Thank you to all who came out to remember George by serving at Maggie's Love Boxes.

Tuesday September 16th we demonstrated that Love is the answer! We delivered 14 LOVE boxes and 2 parent/care giver bags. Melanie and Ashley have only met us once before and as I was filling out the paperwork for the delivery, I was listening to Ashley commenting on the items in the boxes. She was excited to see the activities inside and commented that the colorforms were especially good for those children in isolation. We learn something new each visit. Picture a child in isolation being given activities to help them pass their time. We hope these boxes bring many smiles. Love Works Resource Center

Today was a special day for Maggie’s Love Boxes!! On Friday Sara from Nemours, reached out with a special request for Squishmallows for their patients. Of course we moved quickly to react to her request. Today we delivered 34 Squishmallows stuffed animals to Sara and her intern Melody. While we were in the lobby, a mom approached us with her young daughter. They had just rung the bell celebrating her last Chemo treatment. Mom wanted to know if her daughter could have a Squishmallow to celebrate. Oh my gosh, we never get to interact with the parents and patients and to help celebrate with this Mom and daughter felt SO SPECIAL!. We helped the young lady select a kitty in a pink teacup. She was able to easily hold it by the handle. Then they agreed to take a picture with us!! This is why we do this. Our goal is to help to brighten the days of patients and their families. Thank you again for partnering with us, we hope your hearts are as happy as ours tonight. LOVE WORKS, one patient, one family, one Hospital at a time.
