RWJBarnabas Health facilities wrapped up the holiday season with celebrations in honor of Three Kings Day (El Dia de los Reyes Magos).

Newark City Councilman-at-Large Luis A. Quintana toured Clara Maass Medical Center as well as Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey, bringing glad tidings and dozens of toys to each facility.

And Assemblywoman Annette Quijano hosted her 16th annual Three Kings Day celebration and toy donation at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, alongside Speaker Craig J. Coughlin and City of Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage. The hospital received 3,000+ gifts from local donors!

In addition, festivities were held at our hospitals throughout New Jersey. Take a look at highlights from these celebrations!

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and this Sunday, Jan. 11, is Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Human trafficking affects hundreds of thousands of individuals across the United States each year, cutting across lines of age, gender, race, socioeconomics and geography. As a densely populated, transit-connected State, New Jersey faces significant challenges related to s*x trafficking.

Our team members wore blue today to bring awareness that every one of us can make a meaningful difference in the life of someone experiencing exploitation.

Survivors often interact with the health system – sometimes multiple times – before they are identified or feel safe enough to seek help. This places us in a unique position to recognize signs of exploitation and connect individuals to safety and resources. Our ongoing collaboration with Covenant House New Jersey, for example, advances prevention, early intervention, and survivor-centered care for all survivors and provides pathways to safety, shelter and long-term support for people impacted by trafficking. Our actions matter - not just today or this month, but every day.

Together, let’s continue raising awareness, fostering hope so that every survivor we serve has the opportunity to reclaim their freedom and their future.

Our Global Health team recently returned to Puerto Rico – visiting San Juan during its third 2025 trip to the island – to provide medical services to local residents in partnership with Direct Relief, La Fondita de Jesús and Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU). Our RWJBarnabas Health volunteer team was comprised of physicians specializing in pulmonary medicine, otolaryngology, gynecology and podiatry, as well as residents and fellows, that provided comprehensive medical services and homebound visits and health checks to local residents. Check out these highlights from that visit!

There’s an emergency blood shortage right now in New Jersey, and every single donation can help save a life.

Donations have plummeted following the holidays, severe weather, and record flu, and the need is critical across our region. Only 3% of New Jersey residents donate – that’s why Mark E. Manigan, our President and CEO, answered the urgent call for donors.

Donate blood now and make an appointment to donate again later in 2026!

And we join with our Blood Center partners throughout the state to say THANK YOU to America’s blood donors during National Blood Donor Month! We appreciate your extraordinary generosity to help ensure patients have the blood products they need – when they need them.

To learn more about blood donation and to register to visit rwjuhdonorclub.org or call 732-235-8100 ext. 221.
