🥄 Reminder that every child develops at their own pace, and mealtimes can showcase these unique preferences.

A few tips:
🍌 If your baby is still learning motor skills on a non-standard timeline, special utensils may enable them to feed themselves.
🥦 Picky eaters sometimes benefit from using new utensils.
🫐 For babies not very interested in using a spoon, a spoon specifically made for babies can help.

Lastly, utensils make fun, affordable, useful gifts for little kids.

"Our son Ethan Tapia was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at 22 months old. The diagnosis initially crushed us, but the therapist immediately told us that the diagnosis would be the catalyst for Ethan to finally get the resources he needed to help him propel forward. And since that day, Ethan has taken on every challenge with gusto. He has thousands of hours of therapy and perseverance on lock. While expressive and receptive language will likely be a lifelong challenge for him, he has blown every single specialist and educator’s expectations of him out of the water. He is a beloved peer of his classmates, a four-year high school student athlete, and a social and empathetic friend. Ethan is excited for his future after he graduates with a full high school diploma (something that we were told would be doubtful for him to achieve) and will be attending the University of Iowa’s REACH program next fall, which is an amazing Inclusive Post Secondary Education (IPSE) program. We cannot wait to watch him grow and gain confidence in who he is, and how his disability makes him an exceptional human being."

-Ethan's mom,
