"I was having great difficulty finding a TMJ in my county, and the ones I did find weren't partnered with any insurance providers. For a consultation alone, I was looking at $250-$300. I quickly began to realize that TMJs are few and far between and that there's a reason they're called specialists!
I decided to expand my search in an effort to find a TMJ that would take my insurance when I stumbled the TMJ Center of New Jersey. I was nearing my wits end when I picked up the phone to give their office a call. Not only did they have appointments available and take my insurance, the TMJ consultation was free. I was skeptical at first, but I decided to go out on a limb on this one and I was really, really happy with the entire experience!
To get to their office, I drove 1h 50min, filled out like 5 forms in the waiting area (with no rush and no one pulling me to the back before I finished the paperwork. You have no idea how much I actually really appreciated this! Being rushed to complete the paperwork always gives me a little anxiety no matter how much the nurses assure you that you can take your time. I'm glad I could sit still, think uninterrupted, and actually take my time filling out the documents) and then was called moments later to follow the nurse in. All the nurses I interacted with and spoke with, as well as Dr. Stein were absolutely amazing! Even amid the low levels of stress in the air, this team worked well through the motions while having conversations that mattered with me and keeping good energy on the floor!
Even though the drive was almost 2 hours long, I'd take that drive again should I need to see a TMJ specialist in the future! He doesn't know this, but should my TMJ symptoms worsen in the future, I'm taking that drive right back up to Dr. Stein and his team!"
