🤧 Why Is My Nose Always Stuffy?
If you're constantly reaching for tissues, you're not alone—especially here in South Florida, where environmental factors play a big role in nasal congestion.

šŸŒ¬ļø Saharan Dust: This seasonal dust can blow all the way from Africa and trigger allergy-like symptoms including stuffy nose, sneezing, and sinus pressure.

🌓 Environmental Irritants: Pollen, mold, and even humidity can irritate nasal passages and cause congestion.

🌸 Allergies: Year-round allergens like dust mites and pet dander are common culprits.

🦠 Sinus Infections: Chronic stuffiness could be a sign of sinusitis—an infection that causes inflammation and pressure.

🦓 Structural Issues: A deviated septum or nasal polyps may also block airflow and lead to persistent congestion.

If your symptoms aren’t improving, don’t ignore them—talk to your doctor. See what could be causing your congestion: https://bit.ly/4lPLloY Relief may be closer than you think!

We were honored to take part in the PBSO - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) and The School District of Palm Beach County Police Officers Crisis Intervention Training (CIT)—a specialized 40-hour program designed to equip law enforcement officers with the tools to effectively respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

CIT focuses on understanding mental illness, developing communication skills, and practicing de-escalation techniques. It’s a powerful collaboration between law enforcement, mental health professionals, and community stakeholders.

This week, PBSO recognized our Mental Health & Wellness Department for being a critical partner in this initiative. Led by Michelle Beatty, Educational Coordinator, HCA Florida JFK North Hospital proudly welcomed over 150 law enforcement personnel to the hospital for this essential training.

We are proud to work hand-in-hand with our local law enforcement to provide education, tools, and understanding that make a difference in our community. Together, we are building a safer, more compassionate community.

šŸŽ—ļø July is Fibroid Awareness Month

Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop in or on the uterus. They’re common—especially among women of reproductive age—and can cause symptoms like heavy periods, pelvic pain, bloating, and frequent urination.

Many women live with fibroids without knowing there are treatment options available.

This month, we’re raising awareness to empower women with knowledge and encourage conversations about symptoms and care.

At HCA Florida JFK North Hospital, Dr. Ricardo Estape, Gynecologic Oncologist, works closely with women to diagnose and manage fibroids with compassionate, specialized care. Here, Dr. Estape speaks about abnormal bleeding which can be a cause of fibroids.

Let’s break the silence around fibroids and empower women with knowledge. You don’t have to live in discomfort.

šŸ›Œ What is deep sleep—and why does it matter?
Deep sleep is the most restorative stage of your sleep cycle. It’s when your body repairs itself, your immune system strengthens, and your brain processes and stores memories.
Without enough deep sleep, you may feel foggy, fatigued, and less focused during the day.
Prioritize quality rest—it’s one of the most important things you can do for your overall health!

šŸŽ‰šŸ¾ Happy Birthday to Negan Jameson Rothe, one of our incredible therapy dogs! šŸ¾šŸŽ‰
Negan is always there to bring comfort, love, and a little bit of magic to our patients and staff at HCA Florida JFK North Hospital. Whether he’s walking into a meeting or visiting a patient’s room, his presence instantly lifts spirits and brings smiles.

Recently, during a patient visit, Negan—named after the character from "The Walking Dead"—had a special moment when the patient’s family member’s phone rang… and the theme song from "The Walking Dead" played! Talk about a perfect connection.

Therapy dogs don’t need to speak—they simply radiate love and healing energy. We’re so lucky to have Negan as part of our JFK North family.

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Negan! You are truly one of a kind. 🧔🐶

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the arms or legs. It’s easy to mistake PAD for other conditions like hip arthritis or spinal stenosis, which means often goes undiagnosed. Many people with PAD don’t experience symptoms at all. That’s why awareness of risk factors – such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking – is crucial for screening.

Understanding the early warning signs is the first step toward timely intervention and better quality of life. In most cases, lifestyle changes, exercise and medications are enough to slow the progression or even reverse the symptoms of PAD, so talk to your doctor if you think you may be at risk.

Small businesses play an important role as job creators and are a pillar in communities nationwide. More than 4 million small business owners purchase healthcare coverage on their own and rely on Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCs) to keep premiums affordable.

But unless Congress acts soon, these tax credits will expire at the end of 2025. Many small businesses may face increased costs or be forced to reduce or eliminate employee health coverage.
