Our latest cohort of nurse residents recently put their critical thinking skills to the test during a hands-on Patient Fall Prevention Escape Room, and we couldn’t be more proud! 🩺🔐

This interactive learning experience challenged participants to identify fall risks, implement safety interventions, and work as a team to “escape,” all while reinforcing real-world patient safety principles. From assessing environmental hazards to recognizing high-risk factors, each scenario focused on preventing patient falls and protecting those in our care.

Patient safety is always a top priority at Ozarks Healthcare, and creative, engaging education like this helps our newest nurses build confidence and sharpen their clinical judgment in a supportive environment.

We are proud to announce that Dr. Curtis Horstman has been named Chief Medical Officer at Ozarks Healthcare.

For years, Dr. Horstman has faithfully served patients in our Emergency Department, bringing decades of experience in emergency medicine and a deep commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a vital leadership role in guiding emergency response efforts - helping implement protocols, educate the community, and ensure safe, timely care when our region needed it most. In 2025, he was recognized as a 417 Magazine Top Doctor, reflecting the trust and respect he has earned from both colleagues and patients.

“Dr. Horstman has consistently demonstrated strong clinical leadership, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our patients and medical staff,” Terence Farrell, Ozarks Healthcare President and CEO, said. “His experience and his dedication to quality and safety make him exceptionally well-suited to serve as our Chief Medical Officer. We are confident in his ability to help lead our organization forward.”

As CMO, Dr. Horstman will provide physician leadership, support clinical quality initiatives, and help guide strategic efforts to further strengthen patient care across our health system.

Ozarks Healthcare was honored to welcome Congressman Jason Smith to our campus last week for a tour of our facilities, including our Women’s Center and specialty clinic space.

During his visit, Congressman Smith met with Ozarks Healthcare leadership, as well as city and county officials, to discuss the importance of strengthening rural healthcare and ensuring continued access to quality care close to home.

We appreciate the opportunity to highlight the needs of our community and the work being done to support patients across our region.

The West Plains Middle School Student Council made a big impact at the Lady Zizzer Basketball Pink Out game and events! 💗🏀

During Pink Out week, WPMS STUCO members sold Valentine’s candy grams and raised $350 to add to the overall Pink Out total — with the grand total coming soon! We are so proud of these students for their leadership, initiative, and heart for such an important cause.
