Enjoy your time trick or treating with your family tonight, but don’t forget these tips to keep your little ghouls and goblins safe!

-Check your child’s treats – avoid homemade treats from people you don’t know and only eat factory-wrapped candy.

- Older children should stay with a group – Children under 12 years need adult supervision, older kids can go with a group you trust, but they should stay in a familiar neighborhood.

- Make sure your child is visible – use reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashlights to ensure your child can be seen by drivers and stay safe.

ATTENTION SNAP Participants: Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has informed all state agencies to temporarily suspend the issuance of SNAP benefits for November 2025 as they are 100% federally funded. As a result, DSS will not be able to distribute November SNAP benefits until further notice from FNS.

DSS will continue to accept and process SNAP applications, reported changes, and mid-certifications received on or after November 1, 2025, as normal. Once the shutdown has concluded and DSS receives further guidance from FNS, DSS will work quickly to restore SNAP benefits. FNS will be in communication with Missouri and all states as updated information becomes available.
