The Ozarks Healthcare Foundation is proud to welcome Ann Marie Newberry to its Board of Directors! 💚

A West Plains native with deep roots in our community, Ann Marie brings a wealth of leadership experience, a passion for service, and a lifelong connection to Ozarks Healthcare. From being born here to previously serving within our organization, her commitment to local healthcare runs deep.

In her role as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at West Plains Bank and Trust Company - and through her family business, Newberry Sales - Ann Marie understands the importance of strong community partnerships and giving back.

“I am a firm believer that you get out of something what you put into it,” she shared. “We all have a responsibility to use our talents when we see opportunities to make something better.”

We’re excited to have her voice, perspective, and passion helping guide the Foundation’s mission to support patients and expand care across our region.

The Ozarks Healthcare Foundation recently donated a drum sensory panel to the Thayer RII School District to support students with special learning needs. This interactive tool will help students improve focus, regulate emotions, develop motor skills, and engage their imaginations, all while having fun. 💚

“We are grateful to help connect resources that support students and educators in our region,” Josh Reeves, Vice President of Development and Advocacy at Ozarks Healthcare, said. “Through the generosity of our donors and partners, the Foundation is able to support projects that promote learning, development, and well-being for children in the communities we serve.”

Today, we pause to celebrate the life and towering legacy of Ken Joplin, a cornerstone of Ozarks Healthcare for nearly four decades. From 39 years on our board to advocating for rural health policy at the national level, Ken’s leadership shaped the care our community receives today.

Ken served our health system and the Ozarks Healthcare Foundation, guiding us through decades of growth, from new buildings to life-saving services. His influence reached far beyond West Plains, earning him the Excellence in Governance Award and a reputation in D.C. as a tireless advocate for rural healthcare.

“To Ken, leadership wasn't about a title; it was about respect,” said Josh Reeves, Vice President of Development and Advocacy. “Ken would tell you that it was a privaledge to serve for all of those years, but the privaledge was all ours.”

As 47-year veteran staff member Ruth Warren noted, Ken cared for every employee regardless of their role.

We are proud to see his name on our street signs, but even prouder to have known the man behind the "Ken smile." Thank you, Ken, for a lifetime of service. 💚
