We’re excited to share that Franciscan Healthcare’s laboratory has upgraded its blood testing capabilities with the installation of a new Ortho Vision laboratory blood bank. 🩸

This major improvement was driven by Laboratory Manager Lisa DeMan, who recognized the growing need for faster and more efficient blood testing. With crossmatches rising from 136 in 2022 to 160 in 2023, and over 130 units of blood issued to patients last year, this new system will help the lab team complete tests more quickly and accurately.

The entire team can now run tests seamlessly with the new analyzer, a big win for both staff and patients!

Happy Respiratory Week to our Respiratory Therapy Team! Respiratory Week was October 19-25th. Our team passed out lung-themed temporary tattoos to staff around the hospital.

Our team provides both inpatient and outpatient services to patients of all ages. They offer a variety of services including a Smoking Cessation Clinic, Midline and PICC line placement, and pulmonary function testing.

🎃 Last week, Franciscan Healthcare was filled with creativity and festive spirit! Our employees truly shined in the pumpkin decorating contest, showcasing their artistic talents. The top three pumpkins included an adorable puffer fish made of candy corn, a stunning owl, and a JOYRIDE van! On Friday, we were thrilled to have guest judges from 107.9 The Bull visit various departments for the Halloween Decorating Contest. Congratulations to Materials Management for winning the Decorated Door Contest with their charming “UP” theme, and hats off to the West Point Clinic for their fabulous “Barbie” theme, which won the top Decorated Department Contest! There were so many amazing decorations that we can’t showcase them all here, but enjoy this little sampling! Hey everyone! Your friends at JOYRIDE Public Transit want to remind you about the upcoming Trick-or-Treat events! West Point has their Main Street Trick-or-Treat on Thursday, October 30th, from 5:30-6:30 PM, and Trick-or-Treat on Oakland Avenue (in Downtown Oakland) is on Friday, October 31st, from 2:30-4:00 PM.

Remember, safety first! Stick with your group while you gather treats, and be cautious with your costumes and masks to avoid any tumbles. As the sun sets, make sure you shine bright—wear reflective clothing or carry a flashlight to stay visible to drivers. Most importantly, HAVE FUN and enjoy some spooktacular moments!
