Thank you for taking the time to visit The Speech Umbrella! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders in 2003 and my Master of Arts in Speech Pathology in 2006. The "CCC-SLP" in my credentials indicates that I have earned my Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the national governing board ASHA (American Speech-Language Hearing Association). There are many facets to the "umbrella" of speech therapy. My first two years out of graduate school were spent working in a school district with grades K-4. I transitioned into the adult settings in 2008 to include hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. I have experience working with articulation, phonological, and language disorders in children. My adult experience includes speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders resulting from stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia, and neurological diseases. Voice issues resulting from pathology and misuse are also of interest to me. In addition, I have experience treating stuttering in both adults and children. I am certified nationally with ASHA and also in my current state. I am passionate about my work and observing improvements in my clients and patients is exceptionally rewarding. My treatment includes a functional and personalized approach with explanations and rationale provided to caregivers and clients, when appropriate, in order to increase independence and foster heightened communication skills. Please contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to speaking with you.
