While working out in 2014, our founder, Mark Wood, injured his knee when he lost control of the kettlebell he was using. It was then he realized just how outdated most traditional gym equipment is and sought to create a safer, more effective way to use handheld free weights to workout.
Mark recruited a team to work with him, designing and developing prototypes that would transform the way we exercise with simple, practical designs. After hours of design, trial, and sweat, the original design of GRIPBELL was created: multiple grip points, low profile, soft polyurethane outer, consistent sizing, and no exposed metal.
