When you hire a doula, it's usually with the intent to mitigate as much fear and anxiety as possible. When, and why you might call your doula should not contribute to your anxiety.
When to call your doula:
🛌 If you are losing sleep because something is causing you physical or emotional unrest, call your doula! A 10 minute conversation will likely put your mind and body at ease so that you can rest peacefully.
👩⚕️ A 15 minute prenatal visit with your provider can feel short, sometimes rushed, and a bit anticlimactic. Call your doula after each visit to expand on the day's pregnancy conversation and excitement!
🥰 The more connected you feel to your doula, the more supported you will feel during your labor and birth. For this reason, you should call your doula often!
💦 If you think your water may have broken but you are unsure, no need to panic! Just call your doula! That's why you hired one! Your doula will help you figure out what's happening and prepare you for what's next.
🤰The most important time to call your doula is when you think you might be in labor. This should always be a phone call rather than a text, as a text message doesn't always wake a person up when they are sleeping. A phone call does!
🗣 The sound of your voice is one of the things that enables your doula to know when it’s time for them to come to you. If you are able to talk through your contractions, you may not be ready for your in-person support yet, but if you can't, you'll likely want your doula to be on their way! 🚘
The role of your doula is to instill strength and reduce fear. So CALL YOUR DOULA and let us do our job. 💜 📱
