Aloha vibes all around! 🌺☀️ Eskaton Village Placerville's annual Luau brought sunshine, smiles, and the spirit of the islands to our community. Residents and staff enjoyed a mouthwatering Hawaiian feast, the sweet sounds of the ukulele, and an incredible hula dance performance. The best part? We all got to join in and learn the hula ourselves—turns out we’ve got some hidden talent right here at EVP! 🏝💃🪘

Residents and families of Eskaton Village Placerville recently channeled the vibrant spirit of Mexico with an Oaxacan-style Animal Pottery class! 🎨🐆 Residents hand-built whimsical animal sculptures from clay in the first session, then brought them to life in the second with bold, psychedelic colors inspired by this imaginative form of Mexican folk art. The result? A joyful gallery of one-of-a-kind creatures bursting with personality! 🌟🦜✨

This art class is part of our Creative Aging program, in partnership with the Crocker Art Museum Ar. Through this partnership, Eskaton residents can participate in various Creative Aging Art Courses throughout the year, providing immersive experiences inspired by current exhibits at the Crocker.

The highlight of the day was witnessing the weekly memorial ceremony honoring fallen officers—a deeply moving moment that left a lasting impression on everyone. 💙

🎨🍉 Sip, paint, and plant! Our Summer Paint & Sip event at Eskaton Gold River was a refreshing splash of creativity as residents, guests, and team members decorated their own plant pots while enjoying cool Watermelon Mint Mojitos. After the paint dried, each masterpiece was filled with a beautiful house plant—bringing a burst of color and new life into every home. 🌿✨

Team members at the Eskaton Support Center took a well-deserved pause this week during a 25-minute Restorative Breathwork Session, guided by our Wellness Program Coordinator Michaela Rodgers. Through mindful breathing and gentle meditation, participants invited calm, clarity, and connection into their day. Beyond a moment of peace, this practice supports overall well-being—boosting circulation, easing stress, and even improving sleep. Just breathe... it makes a difference! 🌿🫁✨

This Restorative Breathwork activity was part of our Summer Solstice Wellness Challenge—a monthly series that brings our team together around wellness, nourishment, and connection.

July is National Hot Dog month and the Trousdale celebrated by hosting a Hot Dogs & Brews event for residents, staff and local business partners! 🌭😋 It was a fun-filled afternoon full of great company, new connections and perfect weather. ☀️ Our culinary team provided an assortment of hot dogs, a variety of toppings and refreshing beers. 🍻

Paws, blankets, and big hearts! 🐾💖 Residents from Eskaton Village Placerville took a special trip to the El Dorado County Animal Services - West Slope Shelter last week to drop off donations of food, cozy blankets, and chew toys. All the supplies were purchased using the $1,000 that was raised during their Summer Arts & Crafts Bazaar last month! After the drop-off, residents spent time visiting the animals and spreading some much-needed love and company. A perfect day of giving back (with a few tail wags in return)! 🐶🐱✨

Not many people start horseback riding at age 75. Then again, not many people are like Susan Carson, who started riding horses at 75 and then won her first Cowboy Dressage competition just two years later.

In this Eskaton Senior Portrait, Susan discusses her horseback riding journey and what led her to win top prize at her first Cowboy Dressage Finals. Now 80 years old, Susan continues to train with her beloved horse Popeye, a longtime competition horse with a shining reputation in the local dressage community. With her truly inspiring story and fearless spirit, Susan is proof that it’s never too late to saddle up and chase your dreams.

Game on! 🏐🎈 Residents of Eskaton Village Roseville brought fierce competition to their latest Balloon Volleyball Tournament. In an epic showdown between the EVR Lodge Kings and the EVR Homeowners, the Kings came ready to rule—with brand-new uniforms and a whole lot of team spirit. 💪👑 It was a nail-biter from start to finish, with a lively crowd cheering every volley. In the end, the Lodge Kings claimed victory... but the Homeowners are already plotting their comeback. 👀 A rematch is already scheduled for next month!

On this World Mental Health Day, we want to recognize the Executive Directors and Social Service Coordinators of our Affordable Housing communities who took the initiative to expand their mental health education and learn strategies to assist residents through tough situations. We are proud to announce that the entire group completed five hours of mental health training through Psych Hub and received their Mental Health Ally Certificate! We are incredibly proud of their commitment to fostering a supportive and compassionate environment for our residents

Also referred to as , Juneteenth marks the anniversary of General Order No. 3 on June 19, 1865, which informed the remaining enslaved Africans in the Southern US (held illegally captive after the Emancipation Proclamation) of their freedom. On Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery and celebrate those who fought to abolish it in our nation.
