Care Philosophy

Mendakota Pediatrics provides personalized pediatric care for infants, children, and adolescents in a small family-focused setting. It is our mission to ensure that all of the children we see receive the very best care possible. As pediatricians and as parents ourselves, we know how crucial it is for children to be seen by the same caring and compassionate doctor for both sick and

well visits. We believe that this “continuity of care” model is one that is best delivered by small, independent practices like ours. We partner with our families in medical decision-making. We work together with families to find the best subspecialists for children whose medical needs require them. We listen to children and their families' concerns and place those needs above all else. We welcome your questions and look forward to working with you! The Physicians and Staff of Mendakota Pediatrics.

We understand that many families are concerned about measles, and we are here to help guide you and keep you informed!

Though we have had new cases reported in the Twin Cities, overall risk remains low and there is not currently an outbreak. The best way to prevent measles is to vaccinate with the MMR vaccine at 12 months and 4 years of age. For those too young to be vaccinated, the best way to keep them healthy is to ensure those around them are up to date on their vaccines.

Routine vaccination has been hugely successful in preventing measles. Because of this, you may be wondering what measles looks like. Initial symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes followed by a rash that typically spreads from the head to the rest of the body. It generally takes eight to 12 days from exposure for someone with measles to develop the first symptoms. The measles rash usually appears two to three days after the fever begins.

If your child is not vaccinated and you are concerned about illness, please call us so we can guide you on appropriate next steps. Our clinic can be reached Mon-Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at 651-552-7999.

Thank you for trusting us with the care of your children! It is our privilege to provide the highest quality care to our Mendakota Pediatrics families. Continue following our page for more updates.

We understand that many families are concerned about measles, and we are here to help guide you and keep you informed!

The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed two new cases of measles in the Twin Cities metro area. One case was infectious while at the Mall of America theme park. Persons who were at the mall on May 24 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. may have been exposed and should be aware of any symptoms that develop between May 31 and June 14.

The best way to prevent measles is to vaccinate with the MMR vaccine at 12 months and 4 years of age. Many families are wondering about early or additional MMR doses. At this time we are not routinely recommending early or additional doses. The Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC recommend early or additional vaccination prior to international travel, travel to areas experiencing an outbreak, or for persons with known exposure. The current level of measles activity in Minnesota has not been declared an outbreak.

We will continue monitoring the situation carefully and update our families if this changes, and we will continue to follow guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC. Continue to follow this page for updates.

Thank you for trusting us with the care of your children! It is our privilege to provide the highest quality care to our Mendakota Pediatrics families.

Our Story

Philosophy We know health care is expensive and our families deserve to see a Pediatrician in their own "medical home". We believe that sick children should be seen the same day. We believe that impersonal, monolithic health care systems do not deliver the care families pay for. Relationship We believe that the doctor-patient (and doctor-parent) relationship is the most important factor in providing excellent health care. We believe that neither the insurance companies nor the government should make decisions regarding our children's health care. Training Pediatricians have a minimum 36 months of training completely devoted to the care of infants, children, and adolescents. Family practice doctors average only six months of pediatric training. Nurse Practioners and Physician Assistants, while helpful "physician extenders" in some clinic settings cannot provide the expertise of a Board Certified Pediatrician. Don't be misled by clinics that say they provide "pediatric care" but aren't staffed by Pediatricians. Located just south of St. Paul, we serve the following communities and neighborhoods: West. St. Paul, Mendota Heights, South St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Eagan, Woodbury, south Maplewood, Cottage Grove, St. Paul, Highland Park, Mac Groveland, Crocus Hill and Southeast Minneapolis. We also have many families who come to see us who live in Apple Valley, Lakeville and Farmington. We are easily accessed from I-494, I-35E, Hwy 52, Hwy 3 (Robert Trail) and Hwy 110. Check out our map locator on our web site, www.mendakotapeds.com.
