5K Run for the Bay
Saturday, April 25, 2026 | 8:00 AM
Foster Avenue Park - Sayville, NY
Cost: $35
Spring is here and with it the 10th Annual 5K Run for the Bay brings runners, walkers, and community members together along a scenic route in Sayville—all in support of protecting the Great South Bay.
Hosted by the Blue Island Oyster Foundation and Sayville Running Company, this event channels every step into environmental impact, helping to restore and preserve local waterways. Choose between a traditional 5K run, a 1.8-mile walk, or even a virtual option—making it accessible no matter your pace or location. The course winds through Foster Avenue Park, offering a fresh, open setting that reflects the very landscape the event works to protect. Don’t miss out on your chance to earn custom oyster-themed medals.

Tune into a lesser-known chapter of local history, one that helped shape the early days of global communication. Presented by Connie Currie and sponsored by the Long Island Radio & Television Historical Society, the program traces the people and institutions that passed through Sayville, including the German Telefunken station, the U.S. Navy, and entrepreneur Clarence Mackay.Through storytelling and historical insight, the talk reveals how this coastal town became an unexpected center of innovation and connection during a transformative era.
