Leaning into Love
Contrary to popular belief, sheep say maa not baa. It is something I discovered when 2 babydoll sheep joined our farm family a few months back.
And while sheep might be best known for providing wool to spin into yarn (at least on our farm where all our animals are petstock- my term for our animals which aren’t really livestock nor fully pets- they are well companions and spiritual teachers), sheep can be quite affectionate. The more time I spend with Zelda and Abilene, the easier it is for them (and me) to lean into love.
When things are feeling a bit overwhelming- I join Zelda and Abby in the pasture and just hang out. Love is like that. No need to say anything- just being together is enough.
And as we share breath and sniff one another (okay maybe them more than me), I realize that being present in that moment is a precious gift. It is everything.
Resting in the crisp fall air, feeling the warmth of the waning afternoon sun upon my face, and pausing just long enough to lean into love can sustain me in the midst of all that is swirling around me. In these times of uncertainty, who and what might be inviting you to lean into love? Zelda and Abby agree that it’s worth the effort
