Maybe a bit far-fetched, ... but maybe not.
“Sick World, A Story of Modern Day Slavery” will appeal to the anti-vaccination and conspiracy theory crowd. The story follows two families who decide to break free of intrusive government control of nearly every aspect of their lives. One family does it by fleeing before their new-born son can be vaccinated and have a “biostrip” implanted. The other family is aided in escape by having the son’s "biostrip" altered to avoid government tracking. The story moves along well and makes a good read. It is set in the near future (date not specified, but almost certainly within the next decade). The story ends without resolving all the issues, reminiscent of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion”, where the reader is left to contemplate possible outcomes.
By the time I had finished the story, I found myself wondering if there is some truth to the fundamental basis of the story. Some of the things mentioned are happening now and I wondered if this story portrays a very possible future.
