It's funny how life will keep bringing me back to where I should be. Quietly reminding me of what my potential is, and how I can get there.
What would you do if you could be anything you wanted to be?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reading the books “Start with Why” and “Find Your Why” by Simon Sinek. If you’ve read them, or seen his TED talk, you know that successful companies like Apple and Disney got there because they know why they are in business.
I’m no Steve Jobs, but I found the process of sitting down, sorting through my past, and finding my why very insightful. While it’s something I’ve been floating around, moving closer and closer to it, as time went on, this really helped me hone in on what I wanted to contribute to the people around me. Perhaps in the future this will change and adapt, but for now, this is what it is.
My why, for anyone interested in knowing is:
To help people create spaces so that they can succeed.
Groups I'm most qualified or excited to work with are neuro-divergent( those with autism, ADHD, anxiety etc.) I hope in the future to be more able to help with struggles in homelessness, and people searching for community.
I found it interesting, as I went through this journey, to note that I help people, by creating spaces, and not create spaces, to help people. This implies a different emphasis. The people, over the spaces. I went in thinking it was the other way around.
In the future we can talk about the how's and the what's and the who's.
For now I'd love to hear your WHY?

Hey friends,
I've had an idea percolating since the beginning of the pandemic that I am finally ready to bring to light.
As you may know, I've spent all my time in motherhood with a child on the autism spectrum. It's not been an easy road. But it's not been all bad either. I've learned flexibility and patience. I've learned new ways of doing things. I've learned that I don't have to do all the things, that there are many who have expertise, I just get to bring them all together, and orchestrate what they all do best in our lives.
I've thought long and hard about what I could do to give back to the community. When I started, I thought I could be someone that pediatrician's education to become a therapist, but that didn't seem quite right. As I began preparing for a program in occupational therapy I realized that wasn't right either. I've spent some time in home organizing, and love that.
At one point, I tried to get a job as a design consultant for a home builder. As I was preparing for an interview, I asked myself, "Where would you like to be in 5 years?" The answer came quickly to mind. I want to help people create spaces in their homes that function for their needs. Specifically I want to help families of autistic or sensory kids create spaces that support function. Whether this looks like a sensory space in a home, for a child to take refuge when they are over stimulated, a backyard space that gives kids the proprioception input they need, or a change in kitchen design to support autonomy. Or anything else your family needs!
It should also be noted that many of these supports help neurotypical children as well.
This is not just a for children service either. Many adults, with or without kids, need help getting their spaces right. I know, better than most, a home that's not organized or clean can affect mental health.
There are so many ways to support kids. Mine happens to be creating spaces that help them thrive. and psychiatrists could suggest people contact after learning of diagnoses, a person to talk to, process with, and find community with. I do this regularly, when I know friends or family members are going through it. Please reach out to me if you need help.

The view a few mornings so as I left my sweet clients home, after caring for their twin babies. I love helping out so sweet parents can get some sleep!

Do you know the story behind our logo? I wanted something relatable and inviting, but with a meaning. The shape of the flower, looks like a group of people sitting together, sharing their wisdom and kindness with each other. This represents the community I want to create. So many have talents and abilities to share, let's make a space that they can all be heard.

One of the questions we often hear is “how do I know when I need to get help?” or “how do I know if my friend/spouse/sister needs help?”
✭ Baby blues vs more: baby blues don’t last longer than about 2 weeks. If you are experiencing symptoms beyond that time, reach out.
✭ This can happen DURING pregnancy: This isn’t only a problem postpartum, and in fact is common. If you’re feeling depressed, anxious, angry, having intrusive thoughts, or anything that doesn’t feel like “normal” to YOU, reach out.
✭ If you can’t bond with your baby: that is common with issues. You are not a bad mom; reach out.
✭ This is COMMON. 1 in 5 women experience perinatal mental health issues. If something feels off, reach out.

Women need women supporting them. I recently got to be with a friend as she gave birth in a birth center and it was amazing.

Four years ago, after the birth of my youngest son, I fell into a hole, I hope no one else ever falls down. It was postpartum depression, but I didn’t know. All I knew was despite all my best efforts I felt I was failing as a mother, and I thought that my family would be better off without me.
I don’t want any other mother to feel so alone, so stressed that she doesn’t feel she’s worthy to ask for help.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I have spent the last year getting myself in a better place so I can help other women if they start to fall down this hole. I have dedicated my postpartum doula studies to helping new families prepare for new babies, and the impact that new baby will have on the mother, the parents, and the family as a whole
This page is a safe place to talk about these things. My door is always open that you can come, and you can chat. If that is all you need, then great. I also offer services to help with the day to day struggles of adding to your family as a postpartum doula. In the course of our time, if you need support I cannot give, I have resources for others who can better help you. IBCLCs, professional counselors, psychiatrists, chiropractors, massage therapists, support groups, etc. I can walk with you down the path to get what you need.
