🧠 Nutrition, Immunity, and the Bigger Picture of Health

We often talk about diet in terms of weight loss or calories, but emerging research suggests that food may influence something much deeper — how our bodies regulate metabolism and immune function.
A recent exploratory study examining individuals following a carnivore-style diet found many participants reported improvements in energy, digestion, and overall well-being, while certain metabolic markers — particularly cholesterol levels — shifted significantly.
At the same time, a separate study published in Nature identified a fatty acid found in ruminant animal foods (such as beef and dairy) that appears to enhance the activity of CD8⁺ T-cells, a key component of the immune system responsible for identifying and eliminating abnormal cells.
These findings highlight an important principle:
Food is not simply fuel — it contains compounds that interact with the body's regulatory systems.
At DocBlack Family Chiropractic, the philosophy behind Your Aligned Life® is that health is about more than any single factor. Diet, nervous system function, movement, sleep, and structural alignment all work together to support the body’s ability to adapt and function.
Research continues to evolve, but one thing remains clear:
Health is multifactorial, and understanding how these systems interact is key to helping people live more aligned, resilient lives.
