Northstar Psychological Services, PLC Northstar Psychological Services, PLC is the private psychological practice of Dr. Molly Daniel in West Des Moines, IA. Welcome! Private pay is also offered.

Northstar Psychological Services offers formal psychological testing for children and adolescents ages 6 and older. It is typically a three part process (initial session, face-to-face testing sessions, and analysis/report writing by Dr. Daniel). We first meet for an initial session that is about an hour, which is for getting acquainted, gathering history, and planning for testing. We can usually schedule the testing sessions at the end of that first appointment. The number of testing sessions typically ranges from 1-3 sessions that are usually about 90 minutes to 2 hours each. After all testing is completed, Dr. Daniel analyzes and integrates the data and creates a comprehensive report that you receive back in the weeks following. Once seen for an initial session, testing sessions usually take place in the weeks to month following the initial appointment. Dr. Daniel usually estimates approximately 6 weeks to complete the full report once all testing is completed. Dr. Daniel takes Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Midlands Choice (which includes Cigna and some Health Partner plans).

About Northstar Psychological Servies and Dr. Molly Daniel

Northstar Psychological Services, PLC is the private psychological practice of Molly Daniel, Psy.D. Dr. Daniel is a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider in the State of Iowa. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in 2006, with concentrations in Clinical Child Psychology and Forensics. Dr. Daniel specializes in providing assessment, consultation, and therapy to children (6+), adolescents and their families. Prior to opening Northstar Psychological Services in 2019, she was an associate in a group private practice in West Des Moines for 10 years. She has also practiced in the community mental health, day treatment, and pediatric inpatient hospitalization settings, providing assessment and therapy. Dr. Daniel utilizes primarily cognitive behavioral and developmental approaches to evaluate and address a wide variety of social, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral concerns in young people. She believes that providing sound and comprehensive assessment, identifying strengths as much as areas for improvement, is a key factor in offering the best targeted recommendations and interventions for treatment. Dr. Daniel is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Daniel was born in northern Iowa and raised in Clive/West Des Moines, attending Valley High School. She attended undergraduate at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University in St. Joseph, MN, playing on the soccer team during her time there. As a part of her graduate training, she completed her APA-accredited internship at Family Service and Guidance Center in Topeka, KS and taught Developmental Psychology at Washburn University. Dr. Daniel resides in the Des Moines area with her husband and daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, being active outside and in her church, following college athletics, and amassing ridiculous trivia knowledge for a secret dream to be on Jeopardy.
