Who says you need sunshine and grass for a perfect picnic? ☀️❄️

Recently, our LUMINATIONS® Memory Care residents traded their coats for "summer vibes" at our indoor winter picnic! It was the perfect way to brighten up a standard chilly day and bring some seasonal joy indoors.

Our incredible culinary team went all out, serving up a classic picnic spread that tasted like a July afternoon. From the first bite to the last shared story, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and the simple nostalgia of a great meal with friends.

Murder, Mystery, and Matrimony 🕵️‍♂️

The wedding bells weren't exactly ringing as our Forum Theatre transformed into a scene of high-stakes intrigue.

For our 'Til Death Do Us Part Murder Mystery Dinner, we welcomed the talented Murder Mystery Co. for a night of suspense.

While the theme started with sunshine and chirping birds, the mood quickly shifted when a member of the wedding party was "murdered," leaving our residents to crack the case!

Working in table teams, residents channeled their inner detectives to sift through clues and solve the crime. Several of our own neighbors even took the stage, playing key characters and bringing plenty of laughter to the investigation. It was a fantastic evening filled with teamwork, wit, and "whodunnit" drama.

Before the mystery unfolded, our amazing Culinary Team served a delicious feast featuring Almond Crusted Chicken with Lemon Cream Sauce and Pan Seared Salmon with Garlic Butter. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for such a "killer" success!

6 More Weeks of Winter? Not a Problem at Tower Place! ❄️

While Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted a longer winter, the atmosphere inside our LUMINATIONS® Memory Care neighborhood was nothing but bright and heartwarming this Groundhog Day.

We kicked off the celebration with high-energy games led by our Director of Fitness, Jackson, followed by the smooth sounds of live music from Neil Hewitt.

Our residents were treated to world-class cupcakes, handcrafted by our talented confections specialist, Tabby, and the culinary team. Of course, the day wouldn't have been complete without a special appearance from our very own star groundhog, Mari!

Whether the sun is out or the clouds are lingering, we’re keeping the spirit of spring alive right here at home.

The Lavender Lane Frosty Fiesta at Grand Living at Tower Place couldn’t have been timed more perfectly.

While it was the most frigid day of the Iowa winter outside, it was nothing but heat and heart inside!

Our residents, families, and friends gathered for an unforgettable evening featuring:

🌮 A delicious taco dinner (because "taco-bout" awesome!)
🎶 Festive music and refreshing drinks
🪅 A lively piñata that brought out everyone's competitive spirit

The highlight of the night? Celebrating a very special milestone. Our resident, Connie, rang in her 99th birthday surrounded by the energy of this incredible community! 🎂✨

Every stitch tells a story. 💙🧵

We are so proud of our residents at Grand Living at Tower Place for sharing their hearts and histories during our recent vintage fabric art show. From quilts handmade in the 1800s to deeply personal tributes made from a loved one’s clothing, these pieces are more than just fabric—they are legacies.

As our Director of FACETS®, Jenna Johnson, put it: "The stories behind these small pieces of fabric are really amazing."

A Taste of Home at Tower Place 🇦🇷✨

There’s nothing quite like a meal that tells a story. Recently, our very own Director of Environmental Services, Fede, stepped into the kitchen to lead a special food demonstration for our residents!

Fede shared a piece of his childhood in northern Argentina by preparing Chipa Guasu. While this savory corn cake originates from Paraguay, Fede shared how it became a beloved staple in his own family and a cultural icon across the region.

It wasn't just a cooking lesson—it was a beautiful look into the traditions that shaped him. Thank you, Fede, for bringing your heritage and your heart to our community!

The party was so good, we’re still recovering! 🥂✨

We kicked off the New Year at Grand Living at Tower Place with a Roaring '20s celebration! To keep things relaxed, we hosted a "Noon Year’s Eve" countdown with a recorded ball drop—all the glitz and glamour without the midnight curfew.

The day was a hit, featuring:
🎷 Lively jazz sets by the talented Aviana Gelder.
🍽️ A spectacular spread of gourmet food.
💃 Residents dressed in their finest timeless styles.

A Heartfelt Salute: Reflecting on Veteran's Day 🇺🇸💙

It may be past Veteran's Day, but our gratitude for the brave men and women who served is everlasting.

It was an honor to host a moving ceremony where all our Veterans were recognized with certificates and pins, presented by the thoughtful team from Suncrest Hospice - Cedar Rapids, IA's Patrick Mullen.

The afternoon was perfectly capped off with stirring patriotic music performed by the Greater Des Moines Community Band

Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating the heroes right here in our Grand Living family. Your service will always be remembered.
