❄️Despite cold temperatures outside, residents had some chances for coming together today in The Cafe for heart-warming moments, visiting with friends, making snowflake-themed crafts, and enjoying some cat cuddles ❄️

We love having friends visit on a Friday🥰!

Everyone was happy to meet a new cat volunteer (Marble) this morning and we thank Arbor Springs employee Elcy (Marble’s Mom) and her sister Lucinda for joining us in The Cafe.

This afternoon we tried a pineapple 🍍 whip drink, listened to music, and socialized with Angela from Care Initiatives Hospice.

😍We sure have had another full day-

It’s Thursday, January 22nd, 2026 and we had: Catholic Communion visits with volunteer Peggy, Room visits from Therapist Mara & Po the dog, Music 🎶 and singing from entertainer Melanie Hall (and her daughter Elyse),
Valley Kids helping us prepare for our heart-themed ❤️ crafts next month, and a special
Balloons 🎈 and Pool Noodles afternoon workout session in The Cafe!

It’s always a fun 🤩 morning when we come together for ARL TheraPet visits and Reminisce with Betsy from the West Des Moines Library!

Jada Mae the Dog and Volunteer Lynette made their rounds in The Cafe before Betsy’s program started. The residents and guests also enjoyed singing 🎶 some “love” songs today. Thank you to Jeannie and Dee for both helping at the activity 🙌💕-we sure love seeing the great teamwork!

Happy Tuesday 1/20/26-
We didn’t get any photos of our snow ball toss activity this morning, but we snapped a few photos of our snowball themed snack social and the Bible Study 📖 with St Croix Hospice this afternoon.

We also got Mia some plants 🪴 to work with in our Dogwood neighborhood. Many Arbor Springs residents are talking with us about the overall weather, looking forward to going outside this Spring, planning ahead with their flower suggestions, and enjoying our courtyard chats activity!

Calendar Change: Volunteer Zach is NOT able to lead Wednesday afternoon church service, so Resident Council will now be held at 2:30 pm.

This afternoon, a few ladies joined Michelle for our weekly Book Club activity. We read two books, sang a few songs, and then talked about the upcoming holiday next month, Valentine’s Day ❤️. We were all in agreement that 1) we want door decorations for our rooms and 2) we hope for a large box of chocolates to share 😋!

Thank you to everyone who joined Michelle for today’s church ⛪️ and hymn sing 🎶! She referenced messages from the book, “The Gospel According to Winnie the Pooh” written by Bruce G. Epperly. She shared various quotes from characters living in the 100 Acre Woods and how they represent living a Christian life today, she recited an opening prayer 🙏 on love ❤️ and acceptance 🥰, and then led our Arbor Congregation in The Lord’s Prayer before closing the service.

🤗Happy Saturday, January 17th, 2026 from all of us here at Arbor Springs!

We had a really great turnout for morning worship service and communion, led by spiritual volunteers from Lutheran Church of Hope. Residents enjoyed hearing the first message of the new year from the “Hope Team”, as well as singing some favorite hymns ❤️ ⛪️ ❤️ 🎶.

We also want to introduce you to our new foster cat, Mirage! She finally came out from behind our cat condo so staff could pet her and take a few photos! More information about Mirage (a medium domestic short hair) and full details on her adoption can be found on the Hope Animal Rescue of Iowa page 😍.

We sure hope everyone has a super duper rest of the day and stays safe & warm 🥰!
