Thank you 🙏 to our volunteer/Art as Therapy Facilitator Becca who helped this morning with a Joyful Menu-themed color therapy program from A Window Between Worlds. We had a good turnout for this new activity and had plenty of table talk discussions while we enjoyed snacks!

😍We had another fun-filled Friday…

We welcomed back 🤗ARL TheraPet Jada Mae the dog and volunteer Lynette who visited with us in The Cafe.

Then afterwards, we held a Paint 🎨 & Sip 😋 activity, with thanks to EveryStep Hospice who sponsored our drinks and also helped the residents with their “fall-themed” creations 😉!

This afternoon we held armchair travels to Liberia 🇱🇷 and give thanks to BOTH Esther and Melvin for sharing experiences from that country. Esther had photos and videos from her time visiting family earlier this year.

A belated thank you 🙏 is also extended to an anonymous donor who dropped off a bag of magazines for our residents.

🙏It was a very thankful Thursday for us…

We had a great turnout for Baking Club with Esther; visits from a brand new pet volunteer, Teddy the dog (thanks to Business Office Manager Blessing for making all the introductions); stuffed 25 boxes for Operation Christmas Child (thanks to all our residents, family members, volunteers, and staff who helped) and they will now be shipped all over the world to share God’s love; and ended the day with an energetic Zumba Gold workout and chair dancing (thanks to instructor Jennifer Voss)!

😍Happy Wednesday 11/19/25 & here’s our mid-week recap of highlighted activities…

Monday we played Silly Bash BINGO with our friends/volunteers from Link & Associates. Congrats to Ron K & Barb P for winning the 1st Blackout BINGO game 👏👏!

We also celebrated Mary Ellen’s birthday in Birch and gave thanks to her daughter for sharing the cookies with all of us 😋!

Tuesday we went bowling 🎳 by way of the morning activity and thank Eric and Beth for helping Michelle set up pins & take photos 📸.

In the afternoon, we drank coffee ☕️ and sat together for Book 📖 Club and the Bible 🙏Study (led by St Croix Hospice) and even lifted our voices in singing 🎶 a few hymns!

Today, we gave a few hugs 🤗 and kisses 😘 to ARL TheraPet Jada Mae the Dog before Betsy with the West Des Moines Library gave her reminiscing program. The theme was “All About Thanksgiving” ❤️🦃.

We also received our piano 🎹 tuning and that means we will definitely be ready for Christmas Carolers coming into The Cafe next month😉!

We want to give thanks to the following:

Carol M & church friends for making more lap quilts and neck pillows;
Betsy R & The WDM Library Friends for giving us fidget blankets, holiday wrapping paper, & a bag of bows;
Sarah S for donating washcloths for our Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes & towels for a future resident-led folding station.

Here’s our belated post with pictures from the last few days at Arbor Springs…

*Thursday’s “Fun with Foods: Fruit Edition” where residents peeled oranges 🍊 and bananas 🍌 and then put their own fruit toppings 🍓🫐on pound cake (and whipped cream topping), as well as answered some trivia questions about fruit, too!

*Friday morning’s ARL TheraPet visit with Jada Mae the dog and Volunteer Lynette 💕AND a thank you 🙏 to Melanie for leading our energetic Live2BHealthy class.

*Celebrating National Pickle Day on 11/14 while playing the “What’s The Scoop” game together. Our residents and guests in the afternoon had to guess whether newspaper headlines and “stories” were true or false 🤔…

*Last night’s Pizza 🍕& Pajama Party where attendees ate pizza, drank pop, visited with Grandview College students, used glow sticks in the dark while chair dancing, and (perhaps) stayed up just a little longer than usual 😂! Special thanks to DON Lisa, CNA Danielle, and Ray G’s family for helping Michelle & Nick at the evening activity 🙌!

❤️🤍💙 Thank you to our very special nine Arbor Springs Veterans, who were honored earlier today: Jay O, Jim W, Dale C, Ron K, Ken P, John H, Gibby G, Tim S, and Jim S.

We also gave a shout out to our sixteen Veteran Spouses. Thank you to everyone who attended either our red, white & blue crafts morning activity and/or the afternoon social ❤️🤍💙.
