After eight months of major reconstruction work, 8th Street from I-235 to Clegg Road in West Des Moines is now open to traffic! We appreciate everyone’s patience as we made a number of improvements to this busy corridor.

Crews worked on reconstructing aging pavement, installing new storm sewer to help alleviate flooding, upgrading watermains, improving sidewalks and adding a side-path trail for non-motorists, upgrading traffic signals, and adding left-turn lanes and a raised median to improve driver safety and traffic flow.
