Cold weather + dry air = eczema flare season ❄️

Eczema happens when the skin barrier is disrupted, allowing moisture to escape and irritants in — leading to dry, itchy, red, scaly skin, especially in winter.

Here’s what actually helps 👇

🧴 Use a thick cream (not a lotion)
Look for heavy emollients like Eucerin or Vanicream
✔️ Apply twice daily if possible
✔️ If once daily, apply at night

🧦 Try the sock trick
After applying a thick cream, take a sock with the toe cut off and place it over the area.
✨ This creates a barrier that:
• Locks moisture into the skin
• Keeps cream off furniture, sheets, and clothes
• Helps the skin heal overnight

🛁 Be mindful of baths
• Avoid very hot water
• Keep baths/showers short
• Pat dry, then apply cream within 3 minutes

💨 Humidifiers can help
Just be sure you’re cleaning them regularly to prevent mold growth

🥦 If creams aren’t enough…
Sometimes eczema needs more support, including:
• Prescription steroid creams
• Evaluating possible dietary triggers
• A personalized treatment plan
