Our leader, Barb, is at the Capitol today with Gina from Unified Therapy Services Dubuque & Lancaster meeting with legislators on the Appropriations Committee to advocate for improved reimbursement rates for occupational, physical, and speech therapy services. We’re grateful for her dedication to ensuring patients have access to the care they need and deserve.

✏️ Struggling with pencil grasp? We can help!

A strong, efficient pencil grasp starts with more than just handwriting practice. It begins with core stability, hand strength, and fine motor coordination.

If your child avoids writing or drawing tasks, tires easily or complains of hand pain, or still uses a fi**ed grasp past age 4, occupational therapy can help build the skills needed for successful handwriting.

🌟 Toy Spotlight! 🌟 Our kiddos love exploring the Peekaboo Learning Farm Barns! They are great for:

✋Opening and closing the barn doors and popping out the animal puppets builds hand strength and coordination to target fine motor skills.
🗣Language growth through naming farm animals, making animal sounds, simple directions (in, out), and talking about colors and numbers.
💭Early thinking by identifying and matching colors and counting.

Bath time is another great time to build speech and language skills. 🧼
Talk about actions (wash, pour, splash), label body parts (hands, legs, hair), and give simple choices to encourage communication. Everyday routines allow for repetition to help your child connect meaning to words.
