Norwalk city departments, local businesses, and community organizations will be at McAninch Sports Complex with decorated trunks and all your favorite goodies! Enjoy this family-friendly, fun, safe event and don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes! This event is FREE and all ages are welcome!!

Halloween is a time of excitement for children—dressing up, trick-or-treating, and indulging in candy. However, for families managing food allergies, the holiday can be filled with concern and caution. With some preparation and awareness, you can ensure a fun and safe experience for all.

Halloween is almost here, and it's an especially frightening time for families with food allergies. In the United States, one in 13 children has a food allergy. For these children, even a tiny amount of their allergen can trigger a severe reaction. Many popular Halloween candies contain at least one of the most common allergens. To make matters worse, miniature or fun-sized versions of these candies often contain different ingredients than their full-sized counterparts.
We encourage you to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project. By putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep, you can let trick-or-treaters know that your house is a safe place to get non-food treats.

Today on we would like to shine a light a light on on how allergic diseases can impact mental health for patient's who suffer and their families. Food-allergy related bullying, anxiety of potential exposure reactions and the disappointment of of missing out on social events can carry a heavy emotional burden for both those with the disease and their caretakers.
At Iowa Allergy, we believe in inclusion, respect and kindness. Let's come together as a community and remind others they are not alone.
