Our Story

Iowa Diabetes Research (IDR) was founded by Dr. Anuj Bhargava in 2007 to bring the latest diabetes research and treatments to Iowa and benefit Iowans with diabetes. IDR is committed to improving the health and lives of Iowans with diabetes through participation in clinical research. We have been involved in over 100 research studies mainly focusing on new medications and devices for both Type I and Type II diabetes.

We also have a strong focus on creating technology aimed at simplifying diabetes self-management and revolutionizing doctors visits through the Iowa Diabetes Portal we developed. Dr. Bhargava, an endocrinologist currently practicing at Iowa Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (IDEC) in Des Moines, IA, believes that technology can simplify diabetes and is hopeful that the Iowa Diabetes Portal will make that happen for the millions of people who are affected by diabetes and other chronic diseases.
