Our Story
True Potential Education helps individuals with dyslexia learn to read, write and spell, empowering them to overcome the learning challenges that are holding them back. Our multi-sensory approach works because it changes the way the brain processes language, resulting in increased success in learning, self-confidence and a positive attitude. The teaching professionals at True Potential Education are highly skilled and passionate about helping individuals gain the skills they need to succeed academically and personally. Our peers come to us to attend classes and learn about dyslexia because they recognize True Potential Education as the most knowledgeable and effective practitioners in the region.
True Potential Education gives back to the community by hosting free, two-hour classes for families and educators to increase their knowledge about language-based learning differences. We present at educational conferences and events where parents, students, and educators can easily approach us to seek out answers to questions about academics, or concerns in regards to the social emotional impact they are experiencing within themselves or observing in their child. The True Potential Education staff is also allowed to spend business hours each October, during Dyslexia Awareness Month, advocating for change by going to the State Capital to speak with our state representatives. Nina Lorimor-Easley is proud to represent our community as a member of the Iowa Dyslexia Task Force.
True Potential Education provides remediation (tutoring) services and diagnostic assessments. The diagnostic report at True Potential Education is the result of a deep desire to provide the most complete language-based profile possible, with standardized assessments that are accurate and impactful, and written summaries that include language parents and educators can interpret. Dawn Philbin takes great care when planning both the immediate ‘next steps’ for your child, and when looking years into the future. The diagnostic report at True Potential Education can diagnose dyslexia, dysnomia, dysgraphia, and expressive/receptive language disorder. Additional speech services also include childhood apraxia of speech, fluency (stuttering), speech sound disorders (articulation/phonology), and voice disorders.
