I’m honored to be serving on the expert panel for the Iowa screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause, a documentary focused on perimenopause and menopause.

Hormonal transitions impact far more than cycles — they influence sleep, mood, libido, relationships, and sense of self.
As a s*x therapist, I regularly support clients navigating these shifts, often without clear guidance or language for what they’re experiencing.

This evening will include:
🎬 Film screening
🗣 Expert panel + live Q&A
🍷 Food, drinks, music, and time to connect

Education. Validation. Community.

February 28
West Des Moines

Spring 2026 looks full.

Different rooms. Different audiences.
Same commitment — honest conversations about s*xuality, trauma, and healing.

Thankful to be trusted with these spaces.

One of the biggest myths I hear is that s*x is “supposed” to peak in your 20s.
In reality, confidence, communication, and self-trust often deepen with age and pleasure follows.
Midlife isn’t the end of a s*x life for many people. It’s the beginning of a more authentic one.

People often think about aging as something that necessarily diminishes one’s s*x life. However, it often gets better, particularly in the midlife years (40s and 50s).

Something I’ve seen in my own research is that people at this stage of life are actually the most s*xually adventuresome. Why is that? They start caring less about what they think they’re “supposed” to do in bed and start to pursue pleasure on their own terms, which opens the door to new, varied, and exciting activities.

Likewise, they’ve had more time and practice developing their communication skills, which makes it easier for them to confidently express their fantasies and desires.

In short, the best is yet to come…

I’ve waited YEARS for this moment — freaking out in the best way. Proposal Week energy: equal parts panic + pure joy. 🤩😅✨💃

✨Dreams need discipline... but Denzel said the real magic is consistency.
Today, I chose both.
Submitting my first poetry manuscript feels surreal.
Here’s to showing up, finishing what we start, and building the life we imagine.✨

I watched an interview yesterday that struck something in me — both as a therapist and as a sibling trying to make sense of what family means now. One line hit especially hard:

“Estrangement wasn’t one moment — it was a million cuts that bled me dry.”

In my work, I sit with people navigating estrangement on both sides. I see the person who needed distance, and I see the family left trying to understand what happened. But this time, it felt different… because I’m living it too.

My sibling has chosen to be estranged from our parents. And while everyone deserves relationships that feel safe and aligned, the ripple effects have rearranged my own idea of family.

Holidays look unfamiliar. Birthdays feel different. My children miss relationships they once had. And I grieve — not once, but over and over — as each milestone reminds me that the family I imagined no longer exists in the same way.

What rarely gets talked about is the people in the middle — the siblings, the nieces and nephews, the ones who didn’t make the decision but still live in the wake of it.
There’s grief here too.

Another line from the podcast has stayed with me:

“Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could be any different.” — Oprah

And I think that’s where the healing begins…
Not in fixing the past or forcing reconciliation, but in self-reflection.
In asking ourselves:
What role did I play? What patterns shaped this? What do I want to carry forward, and what stops with me?

I don’t have all the answers.
But I’m learning to hold both truth and tenderness.
To honor my grief without shaming anyone else’s boundaries.
To redefine family with intention — especially as a mother of four children.
And to allow honesty, not hope for a different past, to guide what comes next.

19 months. 50 supervision hours. Too much money.

But I did it! I finally finished my s*x therapy supervision. 🔥

Huge shoutout to my badass supervisors - Jen Meyer, Dr David Ley, and Melissa Novak - for pushing me, guiding me, and surviving all the wild conversations that come with this field.
