⚖️ Pelvic floor symptoms aren’t one-size-fits-all! And we can’t assume that kegels are the answer without properly assessing YOUR pelvic floor!

Sometimes similar symptoms like pelvic pain, leaking, urgency, or low back pain can be caused by pelvic floor overactivity (think: tight muscles) or underactivity (think: weak muscles). That’s why a proper assessment by an expert pelvic floor PT is so important: it helps guide a personalized treatment plan rather than guessing what your body needs. 🌿

📝 With an individualized plan, we can target the right muscles, improve function, and reduce symptoms safely and effectively. Making you feel better, faster.👏🏼

If you’ve been struggling with pelvic floor issues, don’t just guess! Schedule your professional assessment with one of our PTs at and trust in a plan that’s made for YOUR body.🎉

👀 Here’s the thing about Kegels… if you’re doing them correctly, no one should be able to tell!! 🫥

A true pelvic floor contraction is subtle! It’s not about squeezing your glutes, holding your breath, or moving your whole body. Instead, it’s a gentle lift and release of the pelvic floor muscles, and the most important part is that they contract in coordination with pressure changes within your body.

If you notice yourself clenching your butt, thighs, or abs, you’re probably compensating instead of targeting the right muscles. That’s SUPER common, and it just means your pelvic floor might need some retraining with a PT!

🌸 A pelvic health PT can help you learn how to do Kegels correctly AND teach you when relaxation or other exercises may be more helpful than strengthening.

🤨 Have you ever caught yourself squeezing the wrong muscles when trying a Kegel?

“Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?” is a common question we get!💉

The answer? Nope!

While both use thin needles, there are key differences:

🩷 Dry Needling: performed by physical therapists, targets specific muscles, trigger points, and soft tissue dysfunctions to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function. Evidence shows DN can be effective for musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and postural tension.

🤍 Acupuncture – performed by licensed acupuncturists, is based on traditional Chinese medicine principles, targeting specific points to balance energy (Qi) and treat broader health concerns.

Same needles, very different goals and techniques!🙌🏼

💡 If you’re dealing with muscle tightness, joint pain, or movement restrictions, DN from a PT might be the approach for you. But we know that both interventions can help tremendously! So let us know if you’d like a referral to a local Acupuncturist.🥰

🧐 Have you tried dry needling before? How did it feel?!

💻 Sitting at a desk all day? You’re not alone!!

Up to 60-70% of office workers report neck and shoulder pain linked to poor workstation setup (we help treat this alllll the time).

The good news? Small posture check-ins can significantly reduce discomfort and improve productivity. ✅

Here are 5 quick checkpoints for a desk posture reset:
1️⃣ Neck: neutral, not jutting forward
2️⃣ Shoulders: relaxed, not shrugged
3️⃣ Hips: supported, ~90° angle
4️⃣ Feet: flat on floor or footrest
5️⃣ Elbows & Screen: elbows ~90°, screen at eye level to ease neck strain

✨ Research in ergonomics shows that simple workstation adjustments can decrease musculoskeletal discomfort and support long-term spinal health.

Try these adjustments today and notice the difference in how your body feels!

👩🏽‍🍼 The 6-week postpartum clearance is just the beginning… not the finish line!🏁

At your 6-week postpartum follow up visit, your provider is assessing things like incision healing, bleeding, and general tissue recovery. While that’s an important milestone, it doesn’t automatically mean your body is ready to jump back into all activities.

Here’s the difference ⬇️
🩹 Tissue healing: your body has made good progress in repairing after delivery

💪🏼 Return to activity: your strength, core, and pelvic floor may still need guided rehab and gradual progression to safely handle exercise, lifting, or running

Every postpartum journey looks different. Needing more time and support is normal, and physical therapy can help bridge the gap between “cleared” and truly feeling confident in your body again. 🌿

🙌🏼 You don’t have to figure it out alone, our expert women’s health PTs are here to help you return to activity on YOUR body’s timeline.🩷

Did you know Kegels aren’t the only way to support your pelvic floor? 👀

In fact, for many people, focusing only on squeezing isn’t the most effective approach!

Your pelvic floor works best when it’s coordinated with the rest of your body and daily habits.🧘🏼‍♀️🚽

👉🏼 Which of these do you think you need to focus on right now?!
