50 hospital partners across the province received the 2024/25 Trillium Gift of Life Network Hospital Achievement Award for exceptional efforts to support organ and tissue donation as part of compassionate end-of-life care. This marks the largest number of hospitals ever honoured in the history of the awards.

Each year, the Hospital Achievement Awards recognize hospital partners that meet or exceed Ontario’s targets in key areas of the donation process.

Choosing organ and tissue donation won’t impact funeral arrangements. After donation, the donor’s body is returned to the family so they can proceed with funeral plans – whether that includes an open casket burial, cremation, or other religious or cultural traditions.

Heart donation gives the gift of life.

The heart pumps blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to organ and tissues and carrying away waste products.

A heart transplant may be the only option to treat end-stage heart failure that results from coronary artery disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart valve problems, infection or inherited or congenital heart diseases.

Meet Craig & Kevin, brothers. At a young age, Kevin's kidney failed, causing him to need dialysis. After some family member stepped forward and were deemed ineligible, Kevin's older brother, Craig stepped forward. Since receiving his transplant, Kevin has become a successful videographer and photographer and father. After donating a kidney, Craig has recently run a marathon. Great Actions Leave a Mark.
