This quote reminds me of: PURPOSE. This is on the mind of hearts of a lot of people; gen z, millennials, boomers - we are all aware and wanting to feel purposeful. A “feeling of purpose” is a very large health determinant. There is growing evidence that sense of purpose is associated with reduced risk of chronic disease and mortality. It was shown better health outcomes in things like sleep, depression, loneliness etc. (PMID: 34405718). Best place to lean into purpose, where are your gifts? What are you drawn to? What are dying to share with the world?

I’ve been a naturopathic doctor for a decade, and one thing I’ve come to believe deeply is this:
Your body isn’t broken. Your body is incredibly powerful AND it is trying to communicate with you.
Over the years, I’ve had the honour of working with people who are ready to look at their health in a deeper way. Not just addressing symptoms but also understanding themselves, their patterns, and their body better.
I hear people say:
“I feel lighter & more clarity”
“I finally feel connected to my body again.”
“I trust my body now.”
That’s what led me to create what I’m calling the Body Reconnect Method.
It’s the framework I use with every client.
It’s a simple, gentle process to help you come back into connection with your body.

Research regarding attachment styles from Mary Ainsworth (Developmental Psychologist), found that securely attached children often had a relationship with their care giver in which there was a consistent quality: mutual delight.
Mutual delight expressed through enjoyment, attunement & warmth conveyed a message of value, lovability & safety.
Delight in our children is  the foundation upon which emotional wellness and secure attachment is built.

Getting curious about how you view yourself is a game changer for health. Our health behaviours are driven by how we view ourself. Seeing yourself as valuable starts with self compassion & surrounding yourself with people that see YOU. Here is how a lack of self worth could show up in health & healing:
- Not following through with seeking medical help, diagnosis, assessment & treatment
- Putting your physical, mental, emotional, relational needs last
- Not partaking in activities for the sake of joy, pleasure, rest and ONLY activities that involve work/duty/responsibility
- Poor nutrition due to not making food/fuel a priority
- Lacking clairty on what you want: not knowing which direction to go
- Self criticism/judgement
- Avoiding relationships that ARE cup filling because you dont feel like you have much to “add” or “give”.
- Constant comparing to others lives, careers, relationships. If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. A great place to start is to really consider seeing yourself in a new light. See yourself through the eyes of a loved one or beloved pet of yours. See yourself how you view those YOU love.

Unconditional positive regard (UPR) was coined by Carl Rogers and later studied and found to help in emotional stability, self worth, wellbeing, self esteem, resilience etc. Unconditional positive self regard says “I’m not perfect but I am still worthy. I make mistakes and repair when needed. It says I’m lovable, enough and human”. There is so much healing in the simple mind set shift of dropping shame and welcoming self compassion for ourselves (& our kids!). 💕
