West Fraternal Auditorium Tribute Page

West Fraternal Auditorium Tribute Page The West Fraternal Auditorium was a wonderful venue that hosted many of our greatest memories for 35 years. It is now just a wonderful memory itself.

This page was created as a tribute page to one of the greatest Czexan dancehalls in the history of the Lone Star State. The West Fraternal was opened in 1977, and between 1977 and 2012, hosted many or our greatest memories, including weddings, funeral dinners, family reunions, country and polka dances KJT and KJZT functions and other community functions for the people of the city of West, Texas. U

nfortunately, it was a casualty of a poor economy, changing demographics and ultimately, the fertilizer plant explosion of 2013. Though she is no more, we remember her fondly and everything she did for us and our families. Nobody ever had a bad time at the West Fraternal Auditorium, so here is a tribute page for you to post some your best times and share with others the best of our memories. And if you've never attended a Czech wedding or eaten great Czech food and drink...If you've never taken your best girl out on the floor for a polka or been pinched during a grand march.., if you've never snuck out of a celebration to play a game of pool in the back club... then I hope you will appreciate this page as much as the rest of us do and share in our good times.

Q: Are there any plans to rebuild the Fraternal?

A: No. There are no current plans to my knowledge, and I doubt it will ever happen. The Fraternal itself closed one year prior to the explosion when it was destroyed. Time have changed. Because of technology and tastes, there's not the desire that there used to be to go out dancing to Cherokee Rose or some Czexan Orchestra. And, I suppose there just aren't as many big weddings as we had back in the days when you had eight to twelve siblings per family. Recently, a new KC hall was built in West, Its size places it between the size of the former Fraternal and Lone Star Hall, making it a perfect replacement venue for the Fraternal. It's not the Fraternal. It doesn't have the character or cool features of the Fraternal, but it is a great facility for a town the size of West. Due not fret, however, you can celebrate all your memories of that glorious venue here.

What would you do to have just one more waltz with your best girl on the Fraternal dance floor? If Christ creates a place for us in Heaven, wouldn't it be great if it turned out looking just like the West Fraternal?

The West Fraternal Auditorium was a dance hall in the city of West, Texas that hosted many of our greatest times and finest memories for 35 years. Unfortunately, the great hall closed in 2012 and the building came down after the fertilizer plant explosion on April 17, 2014. This tribute page is a gift of mine to the good people of West, Texas, their children and it's admirers. Come on in and share your memories so as many people as possible can experience what we all already know: the greatness of Czech weddings, food, drinks and community. Thanks to the West Fraternal and those who brought her to life for the memories we have been so blessed with.
