What they all have in common: they were trying to fit a mold that wasn’t made for them.

And it’s not just clients, I’ve worked with ex-personal trainers, ex-athletes, ex-coaches… people who know the system inside out, and they’ve been burned in the same way.

The moment they stop chasing someone else’s version of “success” and start moving for themselves that’s when fitness finally feels safe, joyful, and actually sustainable.

I’ve seen so many people fall in love with movement the moment they stopped doing what they were “supposed to do” to be “successful” and instead started moving for joy, strength, and freedom. I’m so excited to welcome Sharlene to the Aurora BPF team! Sharlene and I worked together 20 + years ago 🤯 at my uncles gym where my fitness career started. We reconnected late last year when she was hoping to get back into the industry.

“Hi I’m Sharlene
I am a certified personal trainer with over 15 years experience in the fitness industry. Over the years I have seen and experienced many positive things yet also many negatives about the industry. So much so that I walked away from fitness and went down a different career path for many years.
Throughout that time life has changed in so many ways, as it does. Most recently I have felt a tremendous pull to get back into personal training and ultimately to help others. So I listened and did the scariest thing (at my age) and jumped feet first into re-certifying myself as a personal trainer. I believe fitness should be accessible, realistic and focused on helping people feel good in their body not changing it to fit a certain standard.
I found through my courses that I have a real focus on the aging population with an emphasis on mobility, stability, agility and everyday functional movement. Helping folks build strength and confidence. Improving balance, reducing pain,or simply moving with more ease. My goal is to keep people active, capable and feeling their best at every stage of life.”

Personal training isn’t just about the workout in that session, it’s about the space it creates for you to learn and tune into your body and needs.

Personal training gives you space to slow down.
Space to ask questions. Space to actually feel what’s happening in your body instead of rushing through a workout or trying to keep up with someone else.

Hills I will die on as a personal trainer of 20+ years.

The fitness industry gets a lot of things wrong.
It makes you think that you have to go all in, push harder, go to your max, ignore your body, and chase results about how you look.

But after 20+ years of working with real people who have real lives and real barriers, I know this:

You don’t need to suffer for your workouts to “count”

You don’t need to be perfect to make progress.

You definitely don’t need to change your whole life to start.

You need consistency that fits in your life.

You need support that meets you where you’re at, and workouts that feel challenging but doable.

That’s what we care about at Body Positive Fitness.

There's something to be said about feeling comfortable in your own skin. Let alone feeling comfortable in your own skin, in a gym. After working as a personal trainer for over a decade, I have realized the most important approach to health and fitness isn't taken nearly enough.. My passion is helping others FEEL good. I'm here to help you find confidence and strength; in and out of the gym. This is far more important than the numbers on clothing tags and scales.
