Next up in our “My Why” series is another one of our Direct Support Professionals, Claire! Read her testimony below to learn more about why she chose a career with 3Rivers 👇

Q: What inspired you to work in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) field?
A: What inspires me to work in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) field is, first, my compassionate nature. I find true fulfillment in knowing that I can make a positive difference in someone’s life.
Secondly, since completing my degree, I have always worked with people in need of support and care. My service taught me the importance of empathy, dedication, and compassion, values that continue to guide my work today.

Q: If you could share one thing with the world about the people you support, what would it be?
A: MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE'S LIFE. Every act of kindness has a ripple effect that uplifts not only individuals but entire communities.

Q: What do you love most about working at 3Rivers, and what makes the agency special to you?
A: Working at 3Rivers, what I love most and what makes this agency so special to me, is its strong work ethic. The culture of commitment, integrity, and teamwork inspires me daily.

Q: What’s one thing you would share with someone considering a career in this field?
A: Considering a career in the IDD field means choosing a path of purpose. It is about contributing to your community and, in a larger sense, to the world by uplifting the lives of others.

Up first is Kevin! Read his testimony below to learn more about his experience as a DSP👇

Q: What inspired you to work in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) field?
A: I am inspired to work as a DSP in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field because I have a natural desire to help and believe that every person, regardless of ability, has something unique and valuable to contribute to the community.

Q: If you could share one thing with the world about the people you support, what would it be?
A: The individuals I support have taught me empathy, patience, and the true meaning of care.

Q: What do you love most about working at 3Rivers, and what makes the agency special to you?
A: What I love most about 3Rivers is its commitment to staff. The agency invests in us daily, provides amazing resources, and makes me proud to be part of a place where I see myself staying for a long time.

Q: What’s one thing you would share with someone considering a career in this field?
A: To anyone considering a career in this field: the greatest reward comes from seeing the individuals we serve achieve their goals. This work requires empathy, love, and integrity but the impact is deeply fulfilling.

🎉✨ Today was Wacky Tacky Day for DSP & Care Team Week! ✨🎉
Today was all about bold colors, silly patterns, and outfits that don’t match (on purpose 😉). We broke out those mismatched socks, wild prints, and crazy accessories — the tackier, the better!
