This week, we’re celebrating the start of a new school year by showcasing the GREATNESS we are growing, both within our families and within our Springbrook community.

As part of our “Growing Greatness” engagement activity, employees, residents, families, and care partners are invited to bring in a photo of their kids, stepchildren, nieces, nephews, or any special young person in their life.

It’s a wonderful reminder that while we nurture and support one another here at work, we’re also helping shape the next generation of leaders, dreamers, and doers.

Here’s to a year filled with learning, growth, and greatness, at school, at Springbrook, and beyond!

👋 Meet Wendy Riebe

👩‍⚕️ Wendy is a Registered Nurse and our Assistant Director of Nursing and 3rd floor Nurse Manager. Wendy joined Springbrook Center in January and since then has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with heart. From day one, she has fostered a positive and supportive work environment where team members feel heard, respected, and empowered.

🤝 Wendy invests in the growth of the nursing team, offering guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback that not only strengthens clinical skills but also builds confidence and trust. She is committed to excellent patient care and ensures protocols are followed while also advocating for the needs of both patients and staff.

📰 One area where Wendy truly excels is in the analysis, investigation, and documentation of accident/incident reports. She ensures changes in condition are properly documented, root cause analyses are completed, and new interventions are implemented. Her diligence in this area has directly contributed to a measurable improvement.

❤️ Wendy’s ability to balance accountability with compassion has elevated our nursing team and improved outcomes for our residents. She embodies the spirit of leading with heart and never misses a beat! Thank you Wendy for your high performance consistency and dedication to Springbrook Center.

With a combined 30+ years of dedicated service to Springbrook Center, Melissa Gray and Dianne “Dee” Tripp embody what it means to Lead with Heart. Their teamwork, compassion, and commitment to our residents truly shine every day on King Unit.

Recently, a family shared their heartfelt gratitude for the care Melissa and Dee provided to their loved one. They wrote:

"While we originally felt they went out of their way to make sure our mom and our family felt at ease, I don’t think that’s the case anymore. After watching Melissa and Dee interact with all the tenants on King Unit, it’s just who they are as people. They both took a personal interest in our mom, and made her feel like family. We can’t thank them enough for making her feel special during her time there."

The family went on to say that while they were told about the excellent care on King Unit, Melissa and Dee exceeded those expectations and changed their perception of what professional, compassionate nursing care looks like.
Melissa and Dee exemplify Two Hearts Beat as One through their seamless teamwork and unwavering support of one another, and they represent a true Heart of Gold by creating a patient experience filled with dignity, warmth, and love. Their daily actions ensure that every resident feels seen, valued, and cared for as if they were their own family.

It is with great pride that we recognize Melissa and Dee for this week’s Leading with Heart award. They are the heart of the King Unit at Springbrook Center, and their impact on residents and families will be felt for years to come.

Meet Kenneth Wooten, or as we know him, “KC.”

KC is a Registered Nurse who joined us as our Infection Preventionist in May. From day one, he has brought heart, energy, and an undeniable spirit of teamwork to our Center. He jumped in without hesitation; always willing to help, quick to get involved, and consistently offering valuable insight that elevates our work and strengthens our outcomes.

KC’s approachability, positive energy, and collaborative mindset make him not only a joy to work with but also a true asset to our team. His commitment to shared goals is evident in how he shows up every day with purpose, positivity, and a deep interest in both the work we do and the people doing it.

A perfect example of KC’s character occurred during a recent performance improvement project. It was discovered late in the day that the binding on a controlled substance log book had come loose, requiring all medication entries to be carefully transcribed into a new book. While the task itself wasn’t complex, it demanded great attention to detail and was time-consuming. Despite not being directly involved in the project and with no obligation to assist, KC stayed without hesitation to help our Director of Nursing complete the work. His willingness to step in, simply because it was the right thing to do, exemplifies the selflessness and dedication he brings to our team.

KC has shown a genuine commitment to improving the care we provide while also taking the time to get to know each team member as an individual. His ability to foster connection and inspire collaboration keeps us moving forward with a sense of unity and purpose. I couldn’t think of a better way to describe leading with heart.

Thank you, KC, for all you do and for being you!

Recently, Clarisse demonstrated exceptional kindness and teamwork by assisting another team member in getting a resident ready for an important activity. The resident had been looking forward to this event, and without Clarisse’s willingness to step in and support, it’s possible that the resident would have missed out. Thank you so much for being an exemplary model of what it means to lead with heart. We are so lucky to have you at Springbrook! ❤️
